the beginning of the end for speed channel

if ignoring robby and dakar is bad enough they are now showing "countdown to UFC"

meanwhile they're going to show Goodwood Festival at 3:00am tonight

Just cause Fox owns SPEED and there's a big PPV on this wknd ( I hope )

Since Speedvision was bought out by Fox Sports, the content has gone steadily downhill. The original programming was that what made Speedvision great, has been tossed into the dumpster of past memories. Anyone remember, Lost Drive-In? That was some great stuff. Ok, maybe for only the old people like me, but that program had a following. Even after the Fox takeover, what about Victory by Design? That was quality programming about great racing cars and the reasons they succeeded, and the why and the how...

So, never mind the loss of Dakar, the content of the programming on Speed has sunk to the level of most septic tanks; except for mainly the Barrett-Jackson Collector car auction. That is some sensational stuff which I find amazing and fascinating..

Most of the rest? Meh.

They don't show Dakar stuff because they don't have the US Rights to show it & they currently don't have a weekly/nightly news show at this time of year. It's not like they're covering the Dubai 24hrs but not showing Dakar, etc.

Now that the UFC is off of Spike and on Fox they really don't have much that they can show these shows on that air Nationally besides Speed & FX. I actually light the Countdown to PPV shows more-so then the actual PPV/Fights, but then again I've always been a fan of Biography/Documentary type shows.

Goodwood is at 3am because it's a re-run.

As for the Barrett-Jackson stuff, that's nice when it's live but they replay it so much half the time you have no idea if it's a new/live auction or if it's some sort of highlight show.
