Q: I am watching Robby Gordon in Dakar-disqualified for an unapproved part, then after he disables the unapproved part he still not just wins, but dominates the stage. Almost as entertaining as his performance is his interview, some may call tirade others would call it being another arrogant American, whatever it is great. Can you please ask him to ditch his NASCAR effort and return to open wheel? Even if he stops driving in a few years he would be a great team owner. His personality would be worth the price of admission.

Jamie A. Carr, Lebanon, Ohio

RM: He’s not going to quit the NASCAR money train for Indy cars. Maybe he’ll field a car at Indy someday but I don’t ever see him driving there again.

From what Robin said, even more reason to get back in an Indy car. I beleive that the new car would suit his driving style and he would excel.

& it's a clean slate for all. Not like he doesn't have a pseudo-sorta (off track) teammate in his bro in-law. Should get a good heads up on new vs old from him I'd think. If it's not my work wknd, I'll be there again this May so I really hope RG goes this year...been a SPEED tease the last couple years.

yeah it has.

Going to be a lot harder this year to find a car that someone will lease for a month. Competitive car at least. Especially with teams finally getting their cars built, there will be less supply. Penske said last year he wouldn't field a fourth car in the Indy 500 because of the chance of ruining a future car they might need at an oval.

You guys need to read Robins Mailbag a little more... Indy Car is hanging by a thread and it doesnt look like this new cars going to bring any new fans.

I submit questions to him all the time, hes personally responded to me and agreed that they are on life support.... literally!!! If things dont change quickly, they may not be around much longer. If that happens, the only thing worth salvaging would be the 500.

I do think RG at the 500 would be a good idea though. The whole series... not

Robin is a cool guy - I recall writing him back in the day when he was at the Indianapolis Star... and yes, he replies back. Great guy for the sport - like his sarcastic edge.

Also, I would never rule RG out of any Indy 500 race. If he could bring some $$$ to the dance I'm sure he'd find a partner... plus the series would embrace him. Starting to choke up now, thoughts about him winning the thing... that would be a big story... IMAGINE...

I'm cool with another Double duty ,that was a fun trip with RGM. Just dreaming out loud.
