Radio Restrictions at Plate Tracks

Larry MacReynolds just messaged on Twitter that NASCAR will not allow teams to have radio contact with other drivers or teams in 2012 at plate tracks to try and break up the 2-car tangos.

Great idea...not.

That will certainly break up the 2-car tangos...cause everyone will be wrecking when they can't see where they are going.

next thing,spotters won't be allowed to stand next to each other,no hand signals,ect. right.

Teams will just link up the spotter frequencies and the spotter will drive the two cars. Lexan spoliers. They need them bad at these tracks.

I think NASCAR believes drivers will be less open to push drafting if they can not talk to each other. Drivers were talking to each other almost 4-5 times per lap, "Drag the breaks." or "Come back to me." or telling the other driver what lane or when they needed to cool down. This will put alot more risk to attempting to push draft. I'm sure multi-car teams can figure a way around it with spotters using code words or something. But it will make for another interesting Daytona.

It was getting to the point of ridiculousness with cars having up to 10 teams on their radios. Hand signals it is!

Spotters will get a lot more TV time out of this.

Then again the drivers can always resort to texting one another.

Yah, but the government just released a study and now want to ban texting while driving as well as handsfree calls. This would also eliminate any noise cancelling speaker phones. There goes that option. LOL We need to get it back to where it was. Nothing better than watching the freight-train come through waiting for the big-one to happen. Two man teams suck - even if Robby had a consistent partner.
