* Marcus Ambrose, for his career-best 10th place finish at Bristol. It was the Australian's first race in a Cup car on a NASCAR short track. Ambrose made his NASCAR debut at Martinsville in 2006 in the truck series.

Referring to his crew chief, Ambrose said, "Frank Kerr has saved my career. He's giving me good cars and good equipment."

Kerr is from Bensalem. He was Ambrose's crew chief for four races last year. Previously, he worked with Robby Gordon.

Ambrose's No. 47 Toyota is co-owned by former NBA player Brad Daugherty, now an ESPN racing analyst.

Why is it stirring the pot to simply note the success of others, who by the way happened to work previously for Robby?
Other people like Kerr in the garage too, the very same people who give him setups. That was a statement from an ex employee of RGM. Supposedly Kerr comes up with very little on his own. Im just sharing, I do not have direct verification of this one guys...

Keep in mind the guy who made the statement was an avid Gene Nead supporter, so take it for what its worth...
Its all about chemistry, sometimes its a great crew chief working for the wrong guy. Or a crummy crew chief working for a great driver. I like to see people be sucessful. I would love to see a lot more different teams succeed instead of the same faces.

Anyway I liked Frankie and regret him getting fired for Walter "Top 35 killer" Giles. But I really like Kirk and what he brings to the table. I still miss Gene though.

As I've wrote before... It's nothing new that Frankie started. Kirk needs to get into the "Ole Boys Club" and get some setups too... That practice has been going on for years with a lot of guys doing it. What ever it takes... right?
I have worked in the garage area. I am aware this practice is nothing new. It is my understanding though that Frankie takes it to a different level, and does not have the savy to do things himself. Others in the past have borrowed, but they still had the ability to adapt their own changes to those setups. Every car is different, its how you can adapt after the setup is on the car that seperates the winners from the back markers.

Again, I am just reporting what I have heard. To me, it looks at this time like the Frankie Kerr / RGM split had more to do with RG not letting him do what he wanted, and not that Frankie was dropping the ball.

There are very few "good ole boys" on the top of pit boxes these days. Most are guys that have very little southern connections but do have a mechanical engineering degree in their back pocket. I dont think Robby will ever allow a crew chief like that to run his team. He has said many times you must imagine it before you can engineer it. Unfortunately, Robby does not let others imagine much either from what I have heard.

His way or the high way, but thats why I root for him. He has made it work, I just wish he would win a race as an owner driver. One win in that role, and I believe that makes this 5 year journey a success.
Of all the crew chiefs, I think that Greg was the best!
Greg did a great job in a bad time for RGM.
