STAGE 5 TRACKING

STAGE 5: CHILECITO > TUCUMAN

Connection 384km | Special Stage 527km | Total 911km

COURSE OVERVIEW

After two race days with completely separate routes, everyone will gather together to tackle the longest stage of the rally. They will need to be extremely resistant to overcome these two sections of the special stage which will primarily feature sand. All day long the competitors will make headway on off-piste sections: those who have poorly assessed the limits of their engine will constantly be on the verge of overheating and all the more so, as the region’s temperatures are generally very high. At the bivouac in Tucuman, the candidates for the podium will have been whittled down to a select few, as many of them will no longer be a part of this elite group. For many others, their timing and mechanical mishaps will only become apparent in the middle of the night.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

BJ finally made it. +03:04:16

I thought BJ would have a better rally. Is he having problems with the buggy or is out just a learning curve? Is Dakar that much different than Baja?

Robby called it when he said that he knew what BJ was taking to Dakar and that he would be suprised if they completed the race.
He knows this race is no joke and it will wear out the best no matter how prepared they THINK they are.

Dirt........Thats where the similarity ends I have raced Baja, and from what I "see" of Daker TOTALLY different Baja is balls to the wall point to point anything goes...Well almost everything...take no prisoners RACE HUGE horsepower HUGE travel and crazy locals making boobie traps....not the ones that jiggle.

Yes, a little bit. Think 13 Baja 500s, day after day after day...

I think Robby should invite team X-raid to a SST race ... don't worry minis you won't be penalized at all ...

Or bring em to a mans race BITD Mint 400! (Comming to a desert near you)

So I see 1 hour penalties for Al-Attiyah, Sainz, Despres & others but still only the 26:30 for Robby. They can't be having mercy on the guy. http://www.dakar.com/dakar/2014/us/stage-5/rankings/stage-cars.html...

Oh crap even Laia got one.

Wow, that is going to really hurt Saintz... What the heck happened?

It seems WP2 did them in.

In the overall standings I see a 1 hour penalty for Nasser, Sainz, and Villagra but only the initial 26:30 for Robby.
Maybe a good sign.
