STAGE 1 TRACKING

STAGE 1: LIMA > PISCO

Connection 250km | Special Stage 13km | Total 263km

COURSE OVERVIEW

It won’t be long before competitors will be singled out, but for the moment, the mini special stage organised on the outskirts of Pisco will principally be used to divide up the drivers into categories according to their level, who in turn will reassemble during the rally. The initial stage won’t be as stiff as the drink that made the region famous, but the picture postcard landscape is especially appealing. The concentration required over the several timed kilometres will still allow the competitors to admire the scenery. Nevertheless, the light-hearted attitude and relaxed driving style adopted by the competitors during this first day must not mislead them: the Dakar has really begun.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

One of the biggest challenges to Peterhansel could come from the Qatar-Red Bull Team comprising of former double WRC champion Carlos Sainz and former Production World Rally Championship winner Nasser Al-Attiyah. Both drivers also have Dakar wins to their name in the car section behind the wheel of Volkswagen's Touareg.
since this write up, Carlos has stated he does'nt have confedance in the Buggly

At scrutineering

All systems go. Sorry, I mean "All hoses are a go...."

It only took him a few short years, but it seems like Robby owns the South American fans.

Since day 1

Well it looks like Nasser has some interesting plans.

"Buggly? "No comment
Seen in a video at the press conference in Dakar last November, buggy Nasser Al-Attiyah and Sainz is not an image "virtual". Picked and surprisingly, he did not leave indifferent in its path. All do not like the look of the beast but the Qatari assumes all his choices. That of the two-wheel drive buggy, small artisan American Nevada found on the internet, huge wheels of 52 kilos (A six units of the car, it is more than 300 kg just for the wheels, ed.) Fortunately, the engine noise Corvette 8 liters puts him everyone agrees, except perhaps Robby Gordon. "This is not a boat," quipped Al-Attiyah in reference to criticisms of the American before passing eyes scruteurs scrutineers. Former playmate not very fair play of Qatar, Gordon tackled the car of his opponent. Thursday, he taxed the "Buggly" (contraction of ugly buggy, buggy ugly, ed.) As a prince, Al-Attiyah has left the American to his level. "It does not interest me what he says. I am above all that. '
Three buggies in 2014 with Pastrana
The Dakar 2013 is only the first stone in the construction of this new team of Qatar with about twenty people on the run. "We build for the future, warns the winner of the 2011 edition. The team is young this year. Everything was done to improve the car up. It has taken some interesting but not in motorsport, there can always be surprises. We'll see how far we can go. "The ambition is strong but rather think Al-Attiyah to 2014 at this Lima-Santiago. Dakar with a Baja Qatar and the Morocco Rally in the legs, the buggy has learned well potential. Much more than the 1300 km done since the delivery of the car. During this period, the team will also be repatriated to Europe to complete his professionalism and take a new turn. From there, everything will come together to play to win in a year. If all goes well, the team will come with three cars, one for American Travis Pastrana. But Al-Attiyah, who always has the sequence of ideas, think very strongly Sébastien Loeb he invited a week to ride in the desert. Alsatian and would have loved it ...

Sounds like Nasser like the potential of the Buggly - Don't like that Travis Pastrana is going to drive for Team Red Buggly next year.
Robby needs to NOT make this his last Dakar...my opinion.

News breaking that the times for SS1 will be multiplied by a factor of either 3 or 5 depending on which source you look at. Update to follow....

New # Dakar2013 : the lap of lis pilots in step 1 is multiplied by 5. Differences release is also multiply

This only seems to news in the sense that it is new for this year. From the rule book;
b) The prologue will define the starting order for Stage n°2. For cars and trucks, the
winning Vehicle will start first, the second will start in the second place, and so on. The time done
for the prologue will be counted in the general classification with a 5-ratio. A Vehicle achieving a
time of 5 minutes and 30 seconds will be attributed, at the general classification, a time of 27
minutes and 30 seconds. The prologue total distance will be approximately 12 km.

So I was thinking it would be great to start the 2013 dakar of with no name calling and the funny made up names of other drivers.
We should show the world how mature and respectfull planet robby members can be...

NAHHHH i predict steffanie peter puff n hater will break down in the second stage....
