In the January 22nd issue of NascarScene, the magazine has devoted their entire Upfront Section which consists of the full second and third page to the photo of Robby and his Hummer jumping the dunes in stage 12 of the Dakar. The caption reads: MR. SANDMAN - Robby Gordon gets airborne in his Hummer during the 12th stage of the 2009 Dakar Rally. Gordon finished third overall in the 15-day race, which covered almost 6,000 miles through Argentina and Chile. Very impressive coverage!

I was just about to post a thread on this but you beat me to it while I was commenting on another LOL.

That spread is already in a frame on my office wall.
Would love to see that!!! I Like the caption: Mr. Sandman
The entire photo is 12" x 24". I don't have the capability to scan this. Maybe someone else does.
I am looking at the masthead now... they don't sell photos or reprints to the public because of copyright and licensing issues. Maybe if you contacted them and asked for this issue???? All publishing houses have overstock so you might be able to get one.
The credits for the photo are: CHRISTOPHE ENA - AFP - GETTY IMAGES. I'll try to stop at a photo
shop and reduce the pages after work. They may not let me. I've subscribed to this publication for
about 10 years and have requested and received issues that were lost in the mail. If you hurry, they
may have extra issues left. The phone number I have is Nascar Scene at 1-800-883-7323. Good Luck!
Is there any write-up article to go with it by chance? What's on the cover?
There's no follow-up article about the Dakar. There is another picture of Robby inspecting the damaged Volkswagen of Belgium's Albert Michels in Flambala, Argentina. They mentioned again that he finished third in the Dakar. This is included in a photo spread that states that some of the sport's top drivers simply can't get enough of racing.(in the offseason). On the cover of this issue is a silhouette of Richard Petty with the title "The sun sets on Petty Enterprises.
Is this the picture?

That's the photo!
I like the nick name but lets drop the Mr. and just call him "THE SANDMAN."
Must be some Robby fans at the post office.....my copy usually shows up on Friday but was conspicuously absent. Hmmmm...
