on another track note-Infineon dropping naming-rights deal with Sonoma: For the second time in recent years, a Speedway Motorsports Inc. facility has lost its naming-rights sponsorship. On Tuesday, it was reported that Infineon Technologies is pulling its name from the Sonoma, Calif., road course when its contract expires in May. The track was known as Sears Point Raceway until June 2002, then Infineon Raceway until this week.So , Sears Point is Sears Point again.or Sears

Judging by their website (logo top center), I think they're actually going to rename the track "Sonoma". Not sure why when everyone still calls it Sears Point.

Yes and Watkins Glen Raceway is known for the township of Watkins Glen which was previously known as Watkins for the contributions of Samuel Watkins to the township known as Jefferson which was previously known as Salubria however the racing started as a result of the efforts of a man named Cameron Argestinger , which in no way brings us to the part about the Glen itself which is a very scenic series of waterfalls and pools that cascade down to the flat and finally into Seneca lake which brings us to the $10,000 question of how many drivers have actually visited this very impressive geological formation that in my opinion defies all logic in the scientific account of why it exists the way it does in our time. Which in my opinion helps reinforce my stance that naming and renaming things in the name of commercialism is a load of bunk. The first time I heard Infinieon as facts would dictate the truth I could hardly get it to flow from my lips much less accept it.

Wow I thought I made it pretty clear I was just busting on him and then acknowlegded my mistake when it was pointed out to me it was not meant as a personal attack I thought that was clear but once again it appears I'm wrong. Name it what they want I will always call it Sears Point as does every true race fan from here to the bay and up to Calastoga.

We need a road course race here in the south. Why not a Nascar event at the Motorsports Park in Birmingham,AL? Too close to Talladega?

If Nascar wanted to do a road course in the South they could always run the Daytona course in July! Matter of fact, they should just run a Grand-Am series race and plug in another class called Nascar and run them with Grand-Am! Now that would be a show. Would love to see how a DP would compare to a stock car at Daytona!!!

Or I can hope, NH lost an IRL race, maybe LVMS move IRL to NHMS so they don't kill anyone else.

SO fired up to goto the race this weeknd. Too bad it's not a full race but at least I'll see Robby on track for a little while. GAS ON!!!
