Robby has the car setup with maximum downforce, so a midpack starting spot will be a great lap for him.He will be very good on raceday in the draft.

Nascar.com and the banner on Speed is showing qualifying is delayed, but the weather is clearing and dryers are on the track.

No, the plug has been pulled, not just delayed. Big losers from the rain are McDowell and Bodine

So the 7 was the fastest in second practice and then qual is rained out! Can we get a break? Lets go Robby! Top five here is possible as is a win... lets do this!

Attention Newbies: yesterdays practice times had NOTHING to do with qualifying. Those were draft times, and since Robby is locked in he would have been in race set-up or a locked in qual set up and would had been 25-35th.

And WJM needs to report to the principals office. That is all

You are certainly right Alex, but for like the 10th time along with you and TOG mainly explain.

I am not in my expertise level here, but I know enough about NASCAR to give a legible answer.

Robby knowing that he is top 35 in points goes to Daytona/Talladega with a car that is built with maximum downforce. This means that his car will draft and handle fantastic but will not be able to bust off that one fast single car lap. Other teams will give up some downforce to work on drag and will be able to go quicker by themselves but struggle in practice.

Now, practice at Daytona/Talladega involves drafting, not single car runs. So just by going out and dropping to the back of the pack, RG is able to hold the gas wide open due to his good handling car and bust off a quick lap while catching the pack. RG would not be able to go for the pole without giving up some of that handling and pack speed that he had during happy hour.

I hope that helps some of the people who are not on the same page
