January 3rd-8th, the Rally Raid starts in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and races South than East before racing to North to the city of Ha'il.

January 9th, Rest Day Ha'il

January 10th-15th, the Rally Raid continues from Ha'il through the North Eastern area of Saudi Arabia before heading to West, than South along the Red Sea, finishing in Jeddah.

13:45 Benavides wins and takes the lead!

On each of his last four participations on the Dakar, Kevin Benavides has always won at least one special, except for the 2020 edition, and today the Argentinean has continued this tradition, despite a fall and a nose injury. Thanks to finishing more than seven minutes ahead of Xavier De Soultrait, the HRC rider has also taken the lead in the general standings, 2’31’’ ahead of the Frenchman.

15:15 De Villiers wins the special!

Giniel De Villiers is among the most experienced drivers on the Dakar and was able to avoid the many pitfalls on stage five to reacquaint himself with victory. Behind the wheel of his Toyota, the South African took the lead at the first time check point and was never under threat. He completed this 456-km long special 58’’ ahead of his countryman Brian Baragwanath, who has picked up another podium finish this year following second place on the prologue.
