STAGE 7 TRACKING

STAGE 7: Copiapo > Copiapo

Connection 154km | Special Stage 419km | Total 573km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The loop will be the biggest challenge of the week, although the beginning of the special stage, which will travel along tracks in the middle of the hills and cacti, might appear easy. But afterwards, the strain of the kilometres covered since Mar del Plata will begin to take their toll, exactly at the time when a great number of dunes will follow one after another. The last string of dunes to be crossed, so near and yet so far from the finish, may well resemble a bivouac which has been transported to the middle of the desert. Thankfully for the latecomers who pitch their tents, the regulations allow vehicles to be presented until 6 pm on the rest day.

Nice ol' 419 KM special

cant wait . gas on mother trucker

I like the looks of this stage a lot. low elevation to start, so the Hummer horsepower can carry the full fuel load, and the dunes are at the end, when the fuel tank is light. Perfect. I just wish Nasser was closer so Robby could let him past and use Lucas' navigating experience. If no breakdowns, Robby will be "opening the road" by the time they get to the dunes. This will be a big, big day for Johnny. Good luck boys!

something tells me that a Qartari Rocket may shoot past Robby by half way

that would not be good, RG is starting 30 minutes ahead.

Yeah, I'm liking this stage too. Good luck boys. Keep your heads, both of you.

is this the same paved road with a speed limit in the middle.was their a mix up on how that was timed in the past, something like an endero maybe. cant be to fast but you could loose time i think ? any body remember.

yes, its a 2 part Special, there's a tarmac part but i don't think it's part of the timed stage.
it's also the same for stages 9 & 11.
in on the Neutralisation part:

On several Legs a neutralisation will be effected in the form of a transfer, with a target time, to
separate two sections of the same Selective Section.
The competitor will hand in their time card to the Time Control at the beginning of the
neutralisation, on which will be noted the time at which they start the neutralisation (finish time of
the 1st section) and their time at the end of the neutralisation which will also be their start time for
the 2nd section.
During these neutralisations the maximum speed allowed, checked by GPS, will be that of the speed
limit of the country being crossed.
All assistance is forbidden on the route of the neutralisation.

thanks for the imfo

I beleive this is stage is the game changer. It is going to make or break half the field.

we just need that both of them to have a flawless stage, ,

My feeling is, where as Nasser is an excellant driver, his success during the stages has caused him to excede that ability and gets himself into trouble. If he would just ride out that original pace throughout he would have a better result. I think Robby is taking that approach with better results
