Thanks for the reminder Mike.

Stage 7
Liaison > 299 km - Special > 402 km

And this is how no to start after rest day
Moto: Sanders out
Daniel Sanders was supposed to open the stage to Ad-Dawadimi this morning, but he did not show up at the start. The winner of stages 1 and 6 appears to have crashed in the liaison. The first reports are reassuring and speak of an injured left arm. He received immediate assistance and has been taken to hospital. It is a crushing blow for GasGas, which is now down to just one man, Sam Sunderland, just like Husqvarna after Skyler Howes's withdrawal. The arduous task of opening the way now falls upon the Brit.

09:00 Moto: Price takes the lead
Toby Price posted the fastest time at the first time check. The Australian has 15 seconds to spare over Kevin Benavides, who is turning 33 today. Matthias Walkner made it three KTMs in the top 3 at 17 seconds behind Price. Ricky Brabec, Mason Klein, Joan Barreda and Andrew Short, all within half a minute of the best time, are next. It is a close race out there.

What a bad start to the day. That isn't good.

off topic, I showed my daughter Michelle, the injuries Ken Roczen suffered.
Congrat's to tonight's SX winner Ken Roczen!

I hope you are having fun sharing rallies, races, etc. with her! I was just thinking about her the other day, time flies. I just had to check and can't believe she will be 9 soon! An early happy birthday to her!

Michelle strongly dislikes all racing at this point in her life. Sadly, I'm not able to share my knowledge of racing with her. She thinks I should learn Roblox. In all fairness, I didn't have interest in racing until I was 10-11 yo. I remember the first Cup race on TV. My dad was a David Pearson fan. Cale became my guy. Then I was a Yvon Duhamel (I really don't remember why) fan, then I meet him in person, that ended that. Mario is the only Duhamel that wasn't a dick. JMO. When Michelle is ready for motorbikes, I have them. In the meantime, I'm not spending my retirement on racing for her or me.

Stage 7
Moto: VBA still in the virtual lead
At km 299, three quarters into today's special, Cornejo is still in control by 1'18' over Kevin Benavides, 3'09' over Barreda and 5'37' over Santolino. Van Beveren is 9'03' down, but his direct competitors for the overall are far behind, with Walkner at 22'09' and Sunderland and 25'17'. VBA is still in the virtual lead. This could be the first major change of the second week.

Car: Second win of the year for Loeb!
Sébastien Loeb claimed today's special and gained over five minutes from Nasser Al-Attiyah in the fight for the overall. The Frenchman's sixteenth career win makes him the tenth most prolific stage winner of all time, right behind Giniel De Villiers with seventeen. Carlos Sainz finished on the bottom step of the stage podium, almost eight minutes down.

LW Proto: Quintero pips Gutiérrez at the post
Seth Quintero produced a massive last-minute effort to claw back over five minutes on Cristina Gutiérrez and take his seventh stage win of the year in Ad-Dawadimi.

SSV: Farrés muscles through but Domżała clinches the win
This is Gerard Farrés's fifteenth Dakar. The Spaniard, second in the SSV category in 2019 and winner of three stages in 2020, seized the lead at km 337 but ended up losing the special, sandwiched between the Goczał Bros., Michał and Marek. Aron Domżała recovered from a distinctly lacklustre start to pip everyone on the line and take his second special of the year. Rokas Baciuška took the provisional fourth place at almost five minutes down.
Austin Jones, who conceded close to sixteen minutes to Domżała , and Rodrigo Luppi de Oliveira, who lost almost an hour (and the overall lead) due to a mechanical at km 97, are the big losers of the day.
