Stephane with the win. the once winning Mini 5th, 6th and 10th. And Toyota enjoying the 1mm increase in restrictor, with 4th and 5th. with 2 cancelled stages and a couple shortened the race just never had any excitement for me.
I'm very happy that I did not use a week vacation to follow the boring event this year. Marc Coma/ASO needs to stop running the course thru dry river beds and high altitudes. Why ? the weather is more unpredictable and when it rains, it's flash flooding in those once dry river beds.

a couple other notes
Tim and Tom Coronel finished. the irony is day 1 they where listed in the UTV class, ASO moved them back to a car class that night. They where beat by the winning UTV ( 54h ) by about 20 hours. The winning UTV would have been about 35th in the cars
KAMAZ -1st,2nd and 5th IVECO 3rd-4th

Cool, thanks Mike for all the work on the interweb!

Parker?

The all French team gets their podium sweep. Yay.

Good for me. Loeb nearly made it, in his second Dakar. Peterhansel at age 41 is "Mr Dakar" 6 Bike and 7 Car wins, pretty well never to be repeated.
Toyota were dominant in the Gas class of the event, Mini's were handicapped by having fairly new ex WRC Drivers with limited experience of the Dakar
Americans were noted by their absence.
Coronel twins did well in their tiny engined Buggies
Russian and Belarus Truck manufacturers, who are not seen outside, Russia and Belarus dominated in the Truck category,

there are always stories that emerge

I just couldn't get behind it this year. Hmm, wonder why? And you're right Mike, they need to change up the course.

I'm with him^^^^^^
