Join in and discuss all the action from Stage 10 of the 2016 Dakar Rally. Robby Gordon start time: 8:41am/et, Sheldon Creed will not start, due to disqualification in stage 8.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Fiambala dunes have become one of the decisive stages of the Dakar. This year, they feature at the heart of the most critical rally sequence, when drivers and their vehicles will have to demonstrate their aptitude for extreme endurance. Moreover, the day’s stage presents the longest dune section in the shared history of the Dakar and Fiambala, off-piste for most of the time. In short, an open door for desert specialists.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Kevin this buggy is built close to where I live, it runs the same V8 Vette engine as the Gordini but is installed midships, much better handeling. The South African domestic off road series runs close to Dakar spec regulations for years, so R&D costs are low and experience gained is cheap, even the factory Renault Duster was designed and built here, currently almost 50% of the todays top 20 Dakar ranked cars come from here, If you run your Baja type racing under Dakar spec. regulations, you will quickly you close the gap to the Europeans

Saw he was running a LS7. These guys should take a Gordini for a year and run it in that series. Seems the only way to make it reliable is to continue to drive it through hell to find the issues.

Dakar.com: (note 4 car interviews 3 pugs and Nasser)

Loeb:

"No good news. I've got to get used to this. I'm not really enjoying hitting everything that gets in my way. It was difficult and tricky in every way. We followed tracks. It must've been really hard for the drivers at the front. You're always inches away from getting stuck. We tried to make some progress. The final part was better, with some dunes. We must've lost 10' looking for a waypoint. All in all, we lost 15 to 20' today. The others had to look for that waypoint too. We validated the next waypoint, but we thought it was the previous one, so we looked for it. The roads leading to the two waypoints were probably too close. We also did a little barrel roll after hitting a dune. We did the entire special in degraded mode on loose sand... Yet we still managed to come through! 2 flats, 1 barrel roll, getting stuck in the sand, getting lost..."
