STAGE 5: COPIAPO > ANTOFAGASTA

Connection 239km | Special Stage 458km | Total 697km

COURSE OVERVIEW

This is the first of the rare special stages in which all categories will compete. At the start of the race, the most confident drivers will be able to take advantage of the fast tracks to try to move up in the overall standings. But the temptation to do so may be risky, particularly in the hard-to-handle fesh-fesh areas where absolute self-control is the only guarantee of success. Overtaking here requires precision handling to the extreme.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Only a total of 66 competitors out of a total of 91 listed to start today are still competing for the overall and have completed all stages.
Great video nice job. Good luck today. Gas on !

I'm in the process of engineering a new helmet cooling system and came across this unit of measurement......TOG....The tog is a measure of thermal resistance of a unit area, also known as thermal insulance, commonly used in the textile industry, and often seen quoted on, for example, duvets and carpet underlay.

Part of the reason I follow what Robby is doing is because he is a privateer. I grew tired of all the cronyism in NASCRAP where the teams with corporate $$ received special treatment. I don't see that in Dakar. I like the notion of team speed energy getting out and marketing to all those people one on one. If the effort is self sustaining financially why not keep going year after year with the single car team. Along the way you make big improvements to the car and team and if you hit the combination on that special year you put yourself in a position to win.

The optimist in me predicts a good day today. Car will run great, Johnny will navigate perfectly and Robby will drive like a man on a mission! :-)

When does the race start today. I can't get any updates at dakar.com or trackingdarkar. Help!

It will be interesting and very fast when it starts! Terranova-Sainz-Robby within a 6 minute gap! :-)

3 min, 1 min apart after 1-10

C'mon ROBBY. "Make by day"

do any of the trackers use the map to show position other than the spread sheet format
