Thought you Planeteers might like to see what's been going on on RDC . A few of you already know as I've seen you there bleeding the orange and black like me but for those who haven't seen it yet here's a link

http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/threads/what-happened-to-the-gordi...

Robby himself even came on and set the record straight . Here's his post .

Wow

You guys are correct, 2014 has been a disaster for our race team it's amazing how when you don't win people forget so fast. I guess we just have to worker harder and smarter huh. I was thinking a 1/2 day 7 days a week was enough? just so you know we count a half day as 12 hrs.

Dakar
Vapor Lock blown engine due to running lean. = DNF
Maybe a team problem and due to testing in the Fall won't happen again I will take responsibility personally for this as last year was tough building 23 SST Trucks but we still won Parker and Baja 500 as well as building a series.

Parker 425 broke Trans DNF

Mint 400 DNF Converter

Baja 500
Qualified 1st by 5 seconds over 2nd 9 sec over Voss and 20 seconds to 5th
Drive Shaft Leading at Mikes

Vegas to Reno
Input Shaft

With all these DNF's one time has it been my guys prep jobs? And maybe all of them are mine trying to go too fast (just kidding) I feel our cars are as nice as anything in the Desert or short course, it was a year ago that we schooled everyone at Parker for 3 years straight 2 wins in RGM Truck oh wait 1 win and 1 DQ for heli and 1 win in a Gieser Trugly

BAJA 500 first Overall pole position last 2 BAJA 500 races

BAJA 1000 finally had a RGM mechanical with a broken Spindle, besides this the DNF's are outside parts of RGM and we will continue to push the Developement of OFF ROAD and set the stage for Speed

So for 2013 we have 66% win rate in the Desert 2 wins 3 races

So 2012 win rate 50% win rate 4 wins 8

I will take these odds anytime at Vegas

I have a great race team and Sponsors like Speed, Toyo, 4 Wheel Parts, Safty Clean, Techni, Torchmate, Hass CNC, Mac Tools, Menards, Freightliner many more and couldn't do it without the guys and girls on this team that helps us grow the sport we all love, everyone is right all that matters is winning and we are the only team that has wins in Score and BITD and Dakar Special wins in our own cars.......... Not Voss, BJ, Menzies, Jones or anyone else can say this.

See you guys at the Baja 1000 and we will be there guns blazing

Bummer some of you think I'm Arrogant but in reality it's just confidence and the fans I, we have we love and they are just as passionate as me.

Confidence. In racing if you don't have confidence that you can win you might as well stay home. Unless, of course, you like bleeding cash.

Meh. Another wannabe/neverwas on RDC with an axe to grind.

Lots of those over there lol

Robby is the man! Funny, somebody said they never watched off-road until they followed Robby from NASCAR. I never watched NASCAR until Robby went that way. I was hooked on Robby watching him battle at Sun Devil Stadium in the 80's, followed him in IMSA and on and on.

I can tell you he is an awesome individual on a persona basis and a marvel when it comes to wheeling anything. When's he's had the money that can buy the best a sport has to offer he's done well. And from a personal standpoint I was fortunate to have a weekend pass to his pits at PIR when he was sponsored by Jim Beam and Harrah's. He'll take a picture and sign an autograph for anyone - not just kids but anyone. We were allowed in one of his rigs to watch the race at PIR, have a drink with him after the race and was actually invited to stay and sit around the fire at his pit as he and Greg Irwin shot the shit - but we had to go. That was cool and cool of him. I wish I could have gotten my company to provide sponsorship for him. This guy is an imagineer and some-times you have to live on the bleeding edge to gain an advantage but at the same time realize you're doing R&D and breaks or failure are part of the path to success. If weight wasn't an advantage in TT - I'm sure you'd see him doing R&D and manufacturing all of the components he could out of carbon fiber, probably fill his tires and frame with helium and anything else outside of the box that is worth the risk of failure in an attempt to gain every advantage he can workings towards success on a consistent basis.

I wish him the best and while he has money its not like Speed Energy is making billions or he owns Casino's, Convenient Stores or is backed by MIT or Google where off-road money is just a drop in the bucket.

Rock on Robby.. You're an inspiration for the Off-Road Community and racers in general. You're proof, one can do anything they put their mind to. I hope you and SST make it back to Phoenix someday and at the very least maybe consider having Speed Energy become our Primary sponsor for the 2015 AZOP season (Arizona Off Road Promotions) where we put on Bike, ATV & UTV races. AZOP

Does anyone recognize this guy who showed up unexpectedly to race a UTV at our Cinder Mountain Hare Scramble two weeks ago? He said n-laws were in town and he had to escape and nobody knew he was there. Nicest man in the world. Class Act - just like Robby.

Did he take off his Helmet? Any better pics?

Rob me and the family hit the cinders for the first time the weekend before the race we saw the sign posted on 776 but couldn't make it back up to catch the action. I'll have to check your website to get a schedule I'd like to spectate some of the racing, by the way the Cinders is an amazing place to ride looking forward to many more trips up north.

That's awesome Wally. Cinders is unbelievable with hill climbs three times of anything you can find at Glamis. But, if you're behind someone - watch the hell out unless you like being shot with a .50 cal. Those cinders can inflict some damage and pain. AZOP 2014 Schedule

Next race is in Show Low, AZ about 4 hours Northeast of Phoenix. This is Bikes and Quads only. We're already working on next years schedule and are hopeful to get the Historical "Vulture Mine 250" race back on our schedule. This is just outside of Wickenburg and if you've followed Off Road racing in Arizona this was ususally the most popular race followed by the Cinders and Sonoyta to RockyPoint point to point race.

This is our 4th season now and we're hoping to add Buggy's and Trucks beginning in 2016. Of course this isn't HDRA, SCORE or BITD but you have to smart small and succeed where other Arizona Off Road racing organizations have failed such as Whiplash Motorsports and Arizona Desert Racing Association which was around for 25 years.

Anyway, enough of AZOP on this thread. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
