I think we can go ahead and forget about last year. They built a pretty good car in a matter of weeks with little testing. It'll be interesting to see if RG can expand his partnership and bring multiple vehicles. In comparison to other top tier Dakar rides, its quite cheap to rent a Gordini. Then again, it also hasn't proven anything yet. It wouldn't surprise me to see it in a sanctioned race prior to Dakar to prove what it can do.

Robby and Kellon both made statements last year saying that the Gordini handles better. This, plus more hp than the Hummer means that the Gordini is the better car. Robby is a builder driver. Whatever he does not like about the Gordini, he is in the process of changing. Great to see him testing in June.

I'm sure it's just my ind, but the Hummer looks faster, meaner than the Gordini....in time, I'm sure it will reverse my thoughts of the Gordini. I know the speed record is more of a publicity stunt than anything else, but it dose create a buzz....

MK I agree. The Gordini never sounded this good in any of the footage from 2014. I think she was hurt from about Day 2. Having a strong engine will make a difference, but will it be enough to put Robby up front? Two large hurdles of Dakar: One, year after year, stage after stage, we all see how the terrain/course favors 4wd. Two, European auto manufacturers take this race very seriously. The Monster,BMW, Mini effort last year was ridiculously serious. NINE entries! Have you ever seen anything like this in motorsports? I know it happens all the time. Big dollars is always hard to compete with, but NINE entries! Has a Nascar team ever fielded NINE cars? Not only NINE cars, but some of the best drivers in the race. I actually think that part of why Monster and Mini poured heavily into Dakar last was to squash Robby. I have no evidence, but I think they don't want to surrender market space to him.

The HST in restricted form should be faster.bigger restrictor than the Hummer when Robby last raced it.

I don't see anything about the HST thats says it will be slower, in fact everything I see (not much really) says it's got to be faster. IF smaller = lighter and if FIA specs mean more HP. I'm also glad to see the transaxle replaced.
