The incident described ... the Bobby Labonte spin ... the in-car camera view of an extremely frustrated Robby ... occurred while racing the 2009 Jim Beam car ... with Kirk Almquist atop the box. The Planet once had a copy of this video: http://www.planetrobby.com/video/bad-luck-streak-at-sonoma-2009

The race in the picture above and the one where the car was super fast was 2007. The link posted right here is 2010. Not sure if Gene was the CC in 2007. That was a bummer of a day. The car was super fast & the cars pitting behind him cost him. & yep, the 2001 Glen race with the camera was a tough one as well. The one pictured above from 2007 was probably the fastest car RGM produced for a cup race. It was awesome. It is also nice to see those old Cingular car pics. 2003 was a nice year on the Cup roadies.

2007, lead the most laps to finish 16th.I'm brain fading on the CC, Greg Irwin was gone by then

Gene is my final answer.right or wrong?

It really makes you wonder what might have been. A win in those days could have bolstered the sponsor situation, and perhaps lead to more resources, manpower, and subsequent success.

I know - "shoulda, coulda, woulda" - but so many times it seemed RGM was on the brink of success in NASCAR, only to be screwed by the one-off oddball incident.

the 2001 Global Crossing at the Glen race untill the nbc camera fire at 1hr 14min http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7ABg9FQWmU

You know, as I watched the race (Yea I missed the Glen that year) and he was on pit road with all the smoke and..... and excitment I was thinking as much trouble as a fire can be in a car........"It's out...... take off take off...WTF. ! At the time it was told to be a telemetry box that burned thus even though the car would be still running legally it could not continue due to the scoring from the box being out. This seems so stupid due to the way races were run with teams/spotters/ and scoring needing to be done the way it used to be done there must be a "hardline -human controlled scoring system in place"....no....? Here some are saying it was a camera.....which makes even a stronger case for the ability for the car to continue racing as I would think it had it's own power source and wiring.........Yes I know...."The car was on fire Mike....how would they know what was going on?" Well you know.......i'm the guy filling his car with gas with a cigar in his mouth.....which reminds me....have you seen any of these videos where guys are running engines on "Fumes"....with a fume box...... and running a long time on litte gasoline? Check that stuff out. Holy cow there are no trouble makers racing Road America......dang....
