STAGE 12 TRACKING

STAGE 12: FIAMBALA > COPIAPO

Connection 396km | Special Stage 319km | Total 715km

COURSE OVERVIEW

This time the competitors will cross the Andes Cordillera from east to west, by the Paso San Francisco, and return to the Atacama Desert to experience every kind of difficulty that exists in a long-distance rally. The major sections of dunes are situated right in the centre of the special stage: the participants will have to climb the “cathedral” dunes and avoid entering the basins which are just as big. It won’t be any easier on the tracks, where rocks and stones, despite being scattered around, can immediately bring the fastest of them to a halt. Those who reach Copiapó with a perfect performance will score points for the overall standings.

He might want to follow DAKAR a bit closer, RG has run 8 times 3 in Africa & 5 in S.A.
He gave his steering to a teammate, Finished 3rd, towed Nasser & rightly expected his Salazar to deliver the spare parts he carried in his Hummer. He's first American to win a car stage. As for cheating...

I'm sad to report that he lives in the same general area that I do and races at the track where I was a photog for a few years. OTOH, I'm happy to report that I never crossed paths with him. Just one more guy to leave off my Christmas card list. :)

To reiterate what others have said, Billy, when you quote someone else, please make it clear that it IS a quote by using those little double apostrophes at the beginning and end and if possible, cite the author and source (website or whatever) so that the shit that comes off the blades hits the right dude.

Now we can all double up on the Prozac for the day and follow the action.

Ohh...and Billy, here's a virtual hug for ya: {{{{{hug}}}}} LOL!

Back to racing

With 14 bikes thru WP 1 American KTM rider Kurt Caselli is 2nd 19 seconds back to Bort on his Husqvarna.

One of the best things I love about Robby is how he gets all fired up dropping F bombs and throwing a temper tantrum because he did not win. Who wants to root for some pussy who just says "awe shucks we didn't get it done today."
Gas ON Robby....

Looks like some of the riders trailing Kurt, who is leading the pack from the start today, were able to catch up following his trail. With 8 riders thru WP 2 Kurt is 8th 3:23 back from Bort whom is still leading the stage.

American Johnny Campbell stopped for several minutes on the special just before the 25-km point, but has just started off again.

Good Morning.

Sports is about showmanship. Take the Britt soccer star who married a Spice Girl or Broadway Joe. What about the characters from WWF. The more colorful the characters, the more interest the fans show in their sport. So RG you need to come back NASCAR before it implodes.

If there is one thing hurtful to sports in general; it is purist snobbery. I understand his point, but the blogger shoots himself in the foot by bashing Robby. I'm not a fan of all of his antics either, but Robby has a personality that is unique from other racers. He's harsh, but you know what? That's Robby. Hell, the ASO enjoys having him over just as much as any competitor.

Sports have to have some kind of show element; and Robby helps bring it. You see the smiles of those kids at the skate park? Robby enjoyed giving them a show; and they will remember that forever. :)

And as for his team mate comment, he must have not paid much attention to all that led up to that point huh!

Did you see Robby's smile? It was as broad a smile as his skin would allow!! I think he enjoys pumping up the fans even more that the fans!!! Letting the fans ride on his Hummer in the other vid was something you never see! I'm sure if you try that with most other race vehicles you'll get the old "Don't touch"!
