COURSE OVERVIEW

It was a painful experience for many competitors when they discovered the area last year. At the beginning of the special stage, the dunes follow one another, each one like the next, strung out in a never-ending desert capable of unsettling the best technical specialists. In the opposite direction, Stéphane Peterhansel and “Nani” Roma, both of whom are masters when it comes to crossing dunes, each lost almost fifteen minutes there, and risked missing out on the first two places of the overall standings. And the level of difficulty will be even more demanding this year! During the crucial stage of the first week, the rally will be even tougher for motorcyclists: they will quail on a 2-km slope, of which the gradient will put the descent of Iquique on a par with a gentle children’s slide.

He won't give up; he'll take the Hummer as far as it can go.

I truly hope he stays in it.

Don't quit !!!!

If Robby quits the rally he only validates Nasser quitting last year.

This reminds me of the 2011 Rally when he was disqualified. He just about up and left; but had a change of heat. He came back and supported Salazar until he retired as well. I really hope he shows up for the next stages.

Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and pack it in. Nobody would think anything less of RG and KW if they did that. It's not like they have huge backing. It costs thousands of dollars a day just to run, even if you are running well let alone having to try to make up time. It's not like he has Nassar/Qatar cash. Nobody here needs to be a hero. I'm sure RG will give all these things serious consideration. Whatever he decides is just fine by me and I am sure the rest of the real RG fans.

If he is saying this is his last run at Dakar noquit

I support Robby in what ever he does, but he isn't the give up type. Perhaps if he stuffed the Hummer so bad that it was bent up and would take a huge night to fix it. I say he stays in for at least 2 more stages.

we will see though

It ain't gonna cost anymore now to keep going . In fact it would be a waste of money to stop now . All the time effort and money spent would be for naught .

Think there is to much value in brand exposure for SPEED not to continue. Not going to get worldwide press anywhere else. Use Stage 5 for a better starting position for Stage 6. Still at least 2-3 Stage wins out there for him. Nothing wrong with bringing a few of those home this year.
