Charlotte, N.C. (November 30, 2012) – Coming off a disappointing Baja 1000 finish, Robby Gordon looks for a chance to become the 2012 Best in the Desert champion, behind the wheel of the #1537 SPEED Energy / RPM Offroad / Toyo Tires / 4 Wheel Parts Truggy.

The Henderson 250 will take place on December 1 in Henderson, Nev. and will mark the final event of the Best of the Desert Series for 2012. With a finish in the race, Robby Gordon could find himself becoming the 2012 Best in the Desert champion in the 1500 class. Being that the Henderson 250 is a double points race, it is extremely vital that Gordon maintain his equipment and finish the race.

During qualifying on Thursday, November 29, Gordon was on pace to be near the top of the qualifying charts, pushing the vehicle as hard as possible in search of the first starting position. In doing so, Gordon put the Truggy on two wheels and had to make a yet another incredible save to keep it from rolling over. Series officials thought a cone marker was hit by the #1537. Under the Best in the Desert rules a hit cone will result in a 15-second penalty for the driver. After applying the penalty, Gordon was officially scored with 6 fastest time in the 1500 class and 16 overall. Given the mid-pack starting position, Gordon will battle large amounts of dust and traffic on his way to the front.

"The RPM Offroad / SPEED Energy / Toyo Tires / 4Wheel Parts Truggy was running pretty good. I pushed it pretty hard looking for nothing shorter than a good starting spot. I went into a corner and the truck bicycled getting pretty close to a cone. I didn’t think we hit it but knew it was close. I roosted the corner section pretty good, and Best in Desert did not like that very much. I think maybe someone is trying to prove a point (on servicing a penalty to the 1537). Oh well we will start behind some pretty good competitors on Saturday, but it’s nothing we can’t handle. We know what we need to do, and that is to finish," stated Gordon after his qualifying effort Thursday afternoon.

Eric Hardin is running the 1526 today, he was a 1k, chase crew member.
I'm curious how he'll stack up against RG/RPM.
