CUBS WIN THE WORLD SERIES, oh wait its just a commercial. LMFAO

Bought speed energy today. One of each flavor from 7-eleven in Cerritos. Had to ask for it. They were in the back and the clerk said that the promo time was over. They had some new Spider energy drink being displayed.

Not quite

I used the store locator on the Speed Energy website to find this 7-eleven. So if anyone uses the locator and the store does not have Speed on the floor, have someone check the stock area. Or call the store ahead of time.

times are tough for rgm, paying entry fees with no roi the past 2 weeks doesn't keep the collectors from stopping. i really wish someone would buy his operation and set him free, he tried but is over his head now and in the red. i rememer him saying that speed "would sell itself" so easy, however when i am in the states i can't find it in il, tx or fl (the 7/11 in daytona beach shores had a clearance special on it last year for $.99. i see sadler hvn fun and winning in the nationwide series for childress and think this could be robby. hopefully someone makes an offer on his operations, going to dodge was yet another unsuccessful business venture. our vice president at work says effort is ok, but you will be judged on your results. anyone see an annual report on speed energy and what is the p&l statement? i really hope it is selling and turning a profit.

You'll never see that info. Can't complain about the racing results. I'm more concerned with the lack of sponsorship and Speed availability. After all this is a marketing company, the racing is secondary. It would be great to be running well in Nationwide, but there is no money in it. Only reason to do that would be for more brand awareness. Getting absolutely nothing out of S&P'ing (other than a check-which helps) or DNQ's.

Interesting thread and interesting weekend.

My 2p on Dodge:

What is it "we" want them to do? RG builds his own engines and Mclaren does the EFI. I agree it would be NICE if they stepped up; but, they've had a big blow to deal with as well. They also have a number of things to try and figure out. I know the CEO is NOT a Nascar fan....this may be the final straw for them.

The Silver Lining:

Maybe this casts just enough light on a tough situation that RGM does get some help/direction/etc. soon. I'm consistently amazed at how technically saavy RG is. His commentary on the differences between this system and the system in the offroad trucks was/is really good.

From a business perspective....his commentary on Nascar Franchising is also excellent. Nascar is a complicated beast.....and, the whole thing is slanted to make the France family wealthy. It's their show....their perogative.....they just aren't engendering any good will along the way.

I know there are a lot of Nascar fans here - but, I don't think RG is one of them. There are only a few races that showcase and require driver talent, I have to imagine there is a lot of boredom for our hero on some of these tracks. He's said two things before:

1) RGM is a marketing company that happens to race
2) Selling SPEED is the secret to racing where he wants to race (not much of a secret)

We should admire (sincerely) RG for slugging through these humbling times. He (most likely) doesn't need to do it personally, he appears to be doing it out of loyalty and respect for this crew, who depend on him.

If money were no object, how much Nascar do you think RG would run? My guess: 6 or 7 races tops....and he'd be doing other series a whole lot more. Incidentally (and like most opinions, worthless), I still feel pretty strongly that Nascar is NOT the right demographic for SPEED.

This opinion is, of course, anecdotle. I see the primary energy drink market to be male, up to about 30 years of age. If you look around at what these guys are into...it's mostly other stuff aside from Nascar. I'm sure that's one of the reasons RG wants to sell his team. He knows this and, it's why he's getting into other stuff.

My thoughts: we need a SPEED DEMON skateboarder, snowboarder and surfer. If we get enough, there will be so many people to cheer for, I'll never need to leave my sofa. :)

Maybe a supercross rider to carry the Speed colors would help. I think that's the demographic model that an energy drinkf falls under. Just what I see from the outside looking in though.

were they just talking about EFI problems on nascar raceday?

Wiring harness? I could Maaaaby see that in the desert equipment, but a cup car? I hope Robby can bull back on the stick and pull the nose up before hitting the ground.

@FD, you don't see Na$crap covering their EFI ass?

remember our discussion about lift pumps-see pg 18
