BTW Hendrick Motorsports, Chad Knaus & Jimmie Johnson will be sending a gift basket to the Penske management for braking this news today and taking the Daytona penalty off the radar and making everyone forget about it.

The way I see this is one of two ways... Either Dodge was giving little to Penske for their efforts, or Ford is giving alot to get them.

This is a huge move for such an important team to Dodge and a huge move for Penske being that not only do they have to change over their bodies (not that big of a deal) but I'm sure they have countless $$$ in Dodge engine development, inventory etc.

Penske mfg change is much more involved and costly than a RGM change for instance.

2013 is perfect time to change bodies, every team has to. With this much time Penske can fix/fit for Ford's as chassis go thru their cycle.Like after the 2nd Talladega race if the chassis are still good than they can be fitted for Ford engines and plumbing and rebodied.

I'm wondering what brand Penske Rental trucks are now and what they will be next year? Could be a bigger deal than it appears. Theres more to Penske than racing.

only Roger knows how big of deal it is

Which is why I was surprised by the switch since his company Ilmor is now making the Chevy Indycar engines. I honestly expected a change from Penske within a year or two but I figured it would be to Chevy.

As for the future of Dodge Petty has been approached by Dodge, Chevy, Ford, Toyota and a new manufacture looking to get into the sport for 2013 according to FOXSports.

Yes, he owns Detroit Diesel too.

This puts Dodge in a big hole IMO. I hope somewhere their will be advantages for RGM to capitalize on. But is really up to Dodge, lets see where they go. If they don't step, RG should go back to Chevy. He had good cars then, but the money issue is still a problem.

and the fact that RGM has an inventory of Dodge 'CUP' engines.RGM doesn't own Ford's,Chevy's or Toyota's.

If he stays with Dodge he could try and get a few more........someones not gonna be using them.

I wonder if RG saw or was tipped that this was coming and that is why he started building engines in house. Either to make sure he had engines or possibly to work a deal to be the the Dodge engine supplier in CUP.

Per tweets earlier, it was news to RG too. I'm guessing he's been burning cell phone batteries since. JMO, from far left field: Dodge should go all in with RGM. Have the 77 on track all season with driver TBA. Then RG could do his select events when not pimping Dodge products somewhere else on the globe. "Other" forms of motorsports could be Dakar-Durango, D1-Challenger, SCORE-Ram, a US Rally-Dart SRT4, Monster Jam-Sprinter? LOL...You get my drift
