Bobby Labonte to Drive for Robby Gordon Motorsports at Loudon

Former Champ to Pilot No. 7 Toyota at NHMS

Charlotte, NC (June 23, 2010) – Robby Gordon Motorsports will put 2000 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Bobby Labonte behind the wheel of the No. 7 Toyota at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 this weekend in a current one-race deal.

“When we found out that Bobby was available to drive for us, we jumped at it,” said team owner Robby Gordon. “To have a past champion driving your car is a good opportunity. I think we can learn from him this weekend and it will help our program moving forward.”

Robby Gordon Motorsports finished second in last weekend’s race at the Infineon Raceway.

“I can’t thank Robby and his folks enough for this opportunity,” said Labonte. “We’re going to New Hampshire with the goal of having another solid run for his team. They had a great finish at Sonoma and have some momentum right now. I’m just thankful for the opportunity and hope to get another solid finish for his team.”

Labonte will be making his first start for Robby Gordon Motorsports and plans on running the full race this Sunday.

As per the Hub, Robby said Bobby brought along something more than experience. $$? Sponcor? I , for one am interested in crew cheif / driver communcation. Crew cheif making the call, not driver possiblly. just been wondering what might happen thats all.

This is awesome, being a Lobonte fan, seeing him come to drive here within another of my favorite drivers organizations, is too cool. Great opportunity for both Bobby, and Robby.

This is a great thing for RGM. That a past champion will even consider getting behind Robby's wheel adds credibility needed to attract more and better sponsorship. I'll have no problem being a "Planet Bobby" fan this weekend! Gas on!!!!

My guess this is not the last time we will see Bobby in a RGM car. The 07 might get some miles on her soon. Atlanta, Indy would be a good ones.

I expect to see 2 cars at Indy for RGM,with BL in the #07, and he will be locked in.

Past Champs provisional, NICE. Looks like im going up the road to Indy then. Hope they can get BL for a few more races this year.

2 cars at Indy, that would be very cool. So this weekend at Loudon is a full on race attempt, not a S & P correct? I'm going with my brother-in-law. We have great seats and I have a much better outlook on the race than I did late Sunday night.

This is probably the most legit point of how great it is to be a Robby fan. He may not win a race every year, but you can definitely say it is more exciting to talk about Robby & RGM than say Jimmie Johnson.
