Bobby Labonte to Drive for Robby Gordon Motorsports at Loudon

Former Champ to Pilot No. 7 Toyota at NHMS

Charlotte, NC (June 23, 2010) – Robby Gordon Motorsports will put 2000 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Bobby Labonte behind the wheel of the No. 7 Toyota at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 this weekend in a current one-race deal.

“When we found out that Bobby was available to drive for us, we jumped at it,” said team owner Robby Gordon. “To have a past champion driving your car is a good opportunity. I think we can learn from him this weekend and it will help our program moving forward.”

Robby Gordon Motorsports finished second in last weekend’s race at the Infineon Raceway.

“I can’t thank Robby and his folks enough for this opportunity,” said Labonte. “We’re going to New Hampshire with the goal of having another solid run for his team. They had a great finish at Sonoma and have some momentum right now. I’m just thankful for the opportunity and hope to get another solid finish for his team.”

Labonte will be making his first start for Robby Gordon Motorsports and plans on running the full race this Sunday.

you don't know me... over = not caring to check this site as often as I would care to, especially when info is readily available elsewhere.
what's a few leftcoasters reading non-bogus info for a few hours in advance of 'official'? which hasn't even been posted on rg.com yet. (BL is on top of it, already posted his press releases)
nothing worse than catching up on reading and refreshing only to have what you are reading gone from view or moved to a place most members aren't really aware exists.

fan cars don't work, never have.... that post gone too? *shakeshead* ask KW about how nicely a fan car helped/worked for him get to Montreal and that he is going to do them again.
Its Bobby Labontes deal. They wanted to release the info first, and I respected that.

Fan cars dont work for a season. One race , yes. 2 races, maybe. But an entire year ? No shot.Good for Kenny.
It seems to me that many fans here have voiced their desire to support a fan car for a race. We know it is not viable for a whole season. I would think Robby would be thrilled to drive a car sponsored by his fans especially in an otherwise unsponsored race. Great PR, too!! If we are giving by buying (which is ok with me though I would prefer to donate), I hope you all keep track of what comes in and allocate it to a Planet Robby paint scheme sometime in the future with "sponsored by my fans" on the spoiler. It would be awesome!
I'll second that thought! I would love to see a Planet Robby car on the track. It tells potential sponsors Robby's fans really care about him. They might think about getting on board with Robby. Isn't that the point of sponsorship? They want to know fans are paying attention to their sponsored driver and buy their products.
Add an incentive. The biggest donors get their Planet profile pics placed on the car like the stickers for the sub-sponsors!
Interesting.....I like it.
If BL is bringing a sponsor....maybe he runs the 07 the following 2 weeks... :)

Though I have a funny feeling he is headed to the #83 once Sorenson's 3 race deal is over...(or perhaps even before)

However, Vickers gets that car back....so maybe this opens up an opportunity for RGM to have a quality second driver...if not this year then to start 2011....
Didn't TOG say that RGM has two sponsors for some races later this year, and that's one reason why PJ was going to run New Hampshire? I wonder if that seat goes to Bobby now, but I think the Red Bull thing is a possibility as well. RB seems to like them young, though.
definitely for full time, but a chance to get a seasoned vet in there to teach punk Speed a few things and to give TRB quality feedback on their cars for the remainder fo the year....hard not to go get him...
Stay tuned. There is more to come later.
Don't think RB would accept a Coke driver.

BL supposedly in Finch car for Daytona and Chicago.
This is great news... Now we need to clone Gene and he can run the #7 and the #07 teams.... Having an experienced former champ behind the wheel of the car this weekend is HUGE for RGM....
it's amazing how fast people start trying to make this into more than what it is.. It says in the article.. ONE RACE DEAL...lol

sponser?? who knows if something is coming, but if not, to get bobby in the seat during a race is a great test and the ability to get a champions input on his cars.
