1966 150 the hay hauler just got 2 in baja last week go to norra.com
It was a huge truck! It had a 90 gallon fuel cell in it. That thing had one of the widest track widths I've ever seen. Naturally, it had big Ford power under the hood. Robby sold the truck after a year or so to Bob Richey and RCR racing, while he was building the baddest Truck around in my opinion, which was the Valvoline truck. In 1996 RGM won the Score championship in the new bas ass hot rod. While the Valvoline low slung truck was under construction, he purchased Frank Vessels super heavy Ford class 8 and turned it into a Trophy Truck until the new truck was being built. The Vessels truck was built by Bunderson, and it never really seemed to work that well. But, I do know that thing had a HUGE motor in it as well, and had tons of travel for a twin I-beam truck. Hope this helps!

You mean this "hay hauler"...this is one of Rob's old trucks, per BajaBob.

The "hay hauler"! Mexican 1000 last week.
i have a picture of his la victoria ranger it was bad ass !!!!!!!!!seen it race in nevada and california, barstow to be exact i will try to find it the picture is from the 1992 baja1000 to lapaz yeah the front end width was really wide!!!!!!!
The Hay Hauler Belonged to Jim Venable and Rob drove it for him. Robs first hired driver job.
All I know is that it was one of the first trucks ever to run the 37" BFG project tire.
He was. Simon's were the first. Getting the tires wasn't the problem...getting the wheels was. Jim Smith's Ultra Wheel where the only one making them out of he gate, and they were in VERY short supply. You didn't want to rock out to a race with only eight or ten. There were probably five or six teams running them by the end of that first year.
This is from the Gold Coast. Shortly after I snapped this Robby wadded it up.

hello. the truck I am looking for is not the hayhauler. my old memory recalls that Robby first race of the year, that ford ranger debut, was all white, with no sponsors yet. then, the following race (I am not sure of the year, think of 1991 or 1992, and I think it was one of the baja's) the truck appeared with La Victoria as main sponsor, painted red, white and green. I do remember the race was tv aired, and in a segment, robby was stopped, the tv guy asked why, and he said it was because a ripped off timing belt, and an image of what semed to me of a 4 banger ford engine (the 2.3 liter like) was on the screen. the referred truck appears on you tube, here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LMMCkMRW3E&feature=channel, at 2:50 till 2:55 minute of it. SrMumz photo is correct. I am looking for this info, specially the specs at the time of its debut, and yes, it was later an RCR race truck, it is on the same video #12 at 3.02 minute, but modified. your help is greatly appreciated.
It was not a 4 banger it was a Jessel belt drive on a SBF V-8.

That video is pretty cool but if it was about evolution they could have stopped the vid at 0:59 LOL
That truck was waaaaay too wide for its own good. When you see video, you can tell its not even in the normal tracks in the road. It was a cool looking truck though.
