Some quotes from the Kingsport Times News from and interview with Jeff Burton.

"The whole single car argument is romantic, but the reality of the situation is that our sport is much better off with 10 or 11 4 car team owners."

"It (multicar teams) provides security for the sponsors and it enables you to really economize and do things less expensively. The sponsors are more protected by being part of a four car or three car organization than they are by being part a single-car organization."

"What used to be a half million-doller buisness is now a $100 million buisness. We can't ask sponsors to spend the money that they're spending and not even know they are in the race."

"It is way better off for the sport if we had 43 teams that knew they were going to be in the race than to have 50 teams trying to make the race- we don't need 50 teams, we need 43."

I thought this might interesting considering RGM is a single car entity. What's everyone's take? Is Jeff Burton full of it or does he have a point?

Jeff Burton is way too full of himself as usual. I've always liked Waaad better, even though I can't understand a word he says.
Did anyone see the interview with France jr before the start of the Daytona 500? He said they need an underdog to win this season to make it exciting. The top Brass knows that a single car team like RGM would make serious headlines and make Nascar look like they made the right call with the COT if he could win.
Jeff Burton is a points racer who is comfortable wrapped in the protective blanket of a large team. He could never make it on his own because he just doesn't have the fire in him. Nascar was built on single car teams with a passion for racing. You eliminate these teams and you might as well eliminate Nascar. Your locall short track has great racing on weekends. We saw a spectacular end-of-the-season Arca race at Toledo Speedway last year!
I think that the France family's idea of an underdog is Jr. Vickers or 'Dinger may also fit that image.
AJA is certainly an underdog right now.
I like Jeff Burton. Didn't he finish like 3rd in points last year or the year before?

Heck RGM was one of these teams when he started. If he could afford to have 3 or 4 cars I bet he would do it.
Jeff Burton can go chomp on my dogs ass
Something Mr. Burton needs to consider is the quality of racing in Nascar. I had hoped the COT car might help level the playing field a bit however after watching these races last year and this year the quality of racing just isn't that great. When Jimmy Johnson or some other mega team member laps the top 20 cars inside 50 laps it makes for a long and boring race. I would l;ike to see just the opposite of Mr. Burtons proposal, a maximum of 2 cars per team. This would help the information gathering gap between teams like Hendrick and RGM. NO single car team will ever compete with a team like Hendrick that has 5 cars gathering info. while guys like Robby have only 1. Something else they could do is eleminate qualifying all together and replace it with a heat race system. Have (2) 100 mile heat races with drawn starting positions. Everyone gets a chance to race thier way in. If you have more than 43 cars then slowest cars in slowest race go home. You could have a 300 mile main event with starting positions being determined by the heat races. This might help solve the problem of having mega teams qualifying up front and runnung away with a caution free race within the first 50 laps. It wouldn't solve all problems but might make the races more interesting for a larger no. of laps, instead of waiting for the last 30 for the racing to begin. IMHO
Brett Bodine was a great short track racer. If Kenny Bernstein had have given him better cars he would have looked much better than he did. He won at North Wilksboro right ? Can't be that bad and he had worse luck than Robby even has in the early 1990's when he was at his best.
I think it's bogus. I'm sure most drivers would love to run for a big 4 team operation. It's just not the reality of NASCAR. It's great the way it is. If we get rid of the single car teams than what are the up and comers supposed to do if they can't sign with a big team. Burton is an idiot
Burton should shut his mouth and try to win a race. Boy has no balls or he would take a chance and start his own gig. Go Robby Go
Jeff ought to ask his brother if a single car team would be ok. Ward would run a POS just to get to try to run another sprint cup race. RCR should swap Burtons and it will be lot better for the sport.
