Just watched the first show of the season where there was a segment on where drivers competed in other racing venues in the off-season. Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and JJ were featured, but no Robby Gordon and no mention of the Dakar. Is this prejudice against RG or simply ignorance on the part of ESPN of the world-wide magnitude of the Dakar Rally and the incredible talent, fortitude and endurance that it takes to win a prestigious podium finish. I'm hoping that it's ignorance.

Ignorance is par for the course at ESPN. They half ass Nascar coverage.Actually they half-ass everything. I saw where someone referred to ESPN as the Walmart of sports media, which I think fits.
Seriously, after years of no press shouldnt everyone be used to it by now?

The fact he doesnt get coverage keeps alot of the typical bandwagon fans away, which is fine by me.
Who knows why ESPN didn't talk about Robby they have the worst coverage od races anyway and they still treat NASCAR like a second rate sport. You watch a summer Sunday night sports center and see how many baseball highlights you have to sit through till you get to nascar highlights.
I noticed this too, but after thinking about it, they didn't mention a lot of other drivers, just the "superstars". There were also other drivers besides JJ in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, including Boris Said, who was sitting right there and Juan Pablo, whose team came in second place with him racing the winner at the end. There were also others at the Toyota All-Star Showdown with Joey Logano. But it would have been nice to get some air time for Robby.
You're kidding. So they talked about Jimmie finishing 8th in the Rolex but not Montoya coming half a second short of winning a third straight 24 hours? I'm seriously thinking about boycotting ESPN if that is what they call journalism.
One way or another they will be FORCED to talk about RG this year.
You're right! After Dakar and Laughlin, Robby is shining like a rock star. There's a lot to be said about momentum and he's going to carry it right into Daytona.
I just got through watching Speed's NASCAR Preseason Thunder. They were reviewing the Toyota teams for the new season. No Robby Gordon at all, Michael Watrip Racing complete with interview with Marcus Ambrose. Team Red Bull with huge coverage of Scott Speed, and Joe Gibbs Racing with monstrous coverage of Joey Logano. It's a joke. It makes me sick. I need the SpeedTV e-mails. I am ready to blow their doors off.

BRR
3 top 10's with 4 laps led in 08 is going to get you shit for coverage........
Did Michael Waltrip or Marcos Ambrose do any better?
and really who cares?? like other members have already said its nothing new...boycott ESPN if that makes you feel better....its still not going to change until RGM runs up front and gets competative week in and week out
They do the same thing in other sports. How many times did they mention the Cardinals before they made it to the Super Bowl?
