I'm french and I think Peterhansel is a total douche. He does not represent French people, and I think he should have been thrown out the instant he pushed over that motorcyclist.
I've also worked for ASO (as a freelancer) and they are all business. So if they did that check and found that something that they allowed before illegal, it was because some Peter piped it into their ear - a lot. Frankly, that makes the biker incident all the more weird - I bet it was a case of "Sie disqualify Peter, all der Mini's pull out ja! Und next year too." kinda talk (big threat to the bottom line of ASO)...
And quite frankly, using your tyres as an intake plenum, at the very moment you are slowing down (deflating) just does not make any sense. In fact, it reduces engine breaking, so it's more a tyre management tool than a power issue.

I watched the motorcycle rider get hit in the creek crossing, at the least the driver should have stopped and checked on him. To not get some kind of penalty for leaving is an insult to the race and all involved. In real life it's hit and run!!

As I understand we here at The Planet are not the only ones continuing to bring up the hit on the bike. I don't care what side of the bike the rider was standing on, you can watch it all you want and you will never see the Mini make the slightest effort to steer away from hitting that fellow. At this point in time I feel the appeal should not be against the Mini, but directed towards the organizers themselves for not making the proper call.

I agree with you 100 percent! You should also file on the crash were he didn't get out of the way.
