My van is e85 capable and while I pay a mileage penalty for e85 the car has a lot more vroom because the combustion cycle is longer. Which makes climbing the hills here more enjoyable. New Gen 5 small block marketed as ecotec makes 20hp-25hp more on E85 than gasoline, Next time if the rules allow go for E85-E100. Truck could be the Martini Gordini,Hooch is good fuel.

Ethanol has a much lower RVP than gasoline and provides evaporative cooling that keeps the heads and charge cooler. He probably has bad gas but if the motor had been set up for E85 if the rules allowed he would not have had an issue at all. Nevertheless its Press On Regardless and Gas On!

Plus the quality depends from what the ethanol is made...
Wow, carburator cleaner by the drum?! Did you try it at party?
Would change from the traditional snobbish WD40 cocktail...;-)

In California it's 10% and soon to be 15%. They say we can save the world or some such nonsense, but I don't see how when I'm buying carburetor cleaner by the drum.

Thanks for the confirmation. I know this problem from an other country who had exactly the same case.
Quite unfair for gasoline competitors.
Do you know how much percent? Europe is 5% and I guess US is max 10%...

@Leo The fuel is purchased at local stations. We have problems with my local fuel because our government mandates mixing it with ethanol.

Strange that troubles are only for gasoline engines (mainly buggies + toyota + ford I guess).
Is the fuel bought to the organisation (in this case they should analyse what they sell) or the fuel is bought by concurrent in standard fuel station?
In some countries the fuel is so expensive it's current that some companies mix it with local ethanol, causing problems on valves....

@Geris: as a french speaker, I can tell you the co-pilot never say pump is too close. Just say fuel is boiling and he try to cool it down with water.
@Hendricus: Yes, AC in a race car. Peterinsaddle first brought this feature saying more cooler can drive better and longer. Guess all top driver have it now, also the case on the new Toyota Hilux.

Luc Alphand became a commentator after his giant crash in 2009 (non Dakar). On another note, vapor issue, AC broken, leak in the back, dust, no rear wing, but it still running so let race it. Love RG.

Its nice to see a little smile on Robbys face, dusty, beat up but as always fast as hell. Maybe this will spawn the Gordini crew cab pickup... The truck you can haul the groceries in and scare the $h1T out or your friends at 200mph!
