I hear ya. In the 5 years my son has been in karts he has never mentioned wanting to become a professional race car driver. He's chosen to skip races to do extra credit school work and is more concerned about getting into a good college than he is about racing.

The kid has skills (and unfortunately, no fear), but I think he just likes the rush and it's also a good way for him to blow off steam.

My 8-year old is another story....
