Doug, I'll take a swing at why they run the car on a chassis dyno. Yes, you can check installation,which includes oil / water leaks on engine and oil leaks on the engine and transmission,rear diff. Nothing wastes practice like chase leaks or worst yet fencing it in your own oil.
It allows you to run the transmission thru the gears under load.
They can check engine performance against previous runs and check perasitic loss (potential transmission,rear gear issue) also gives a feel for abnormal vibration.
You get the idea

Doug- this was on Tuesday..So not technically a week prior..I missed the chance to film when they had the engine going full song..I think one of the prior speedfactory episodes went into more detail about this dyno.The TRIAD engine tuner is in the drivers seat during this.
