I remember that moment in 1998 very well, it's the Sainz luck... last year he was leading the PAX Rally here in Portugal and crashed on the last day, giving the victory to Peterhansel.

I am all for Robby winning, but I hate to see a racer go out like this. You can see the sheer disappointment on carlos is face. It reminds me of when he lost the WRC championship in 1998 700 meter from the finish, it was just as hard wrenching, Below is a link to that fateful day.

I think he was being more critical of the roadbook than his co-driver in his reaction. I think he says something like "that wasn't in the roadbook" and my first reaction was that he was being sarcastic and throwing the co-driver under the bus (or over the ledge... sorry) but I think it was the fact that the roadbook didn't point out the danger as much as he felt was necessary after reading the quotes later on...

Racing is one thing, and hoping for someone to break (the car) is another, but I would never want someone hurt in order to achieve victory!!! My thoughts go out to the co-driver for a healthy and speedy recovery...

Very lucky someone wasn't killed in that trench!! Great video!!!! Shows the reality that these drivers face on any given day!!! Gas on Robby and be safe!
