the middle lever is turning brakes the top is eather low/high four wheel drive and the other is front four wheel drive lock/unlock

Help! I've never seen a trophy truck, truggy or any of the things I'm seeing here! What are the controls used for? Breaks? Although this is new to me, it's freakin cool stuff! I saw my first rock crawling event Saturday and it was great!!
