Just realized the last half of my first comment got cut off. I'll finish it with my point. RG said front engine, 2wd, solid rear axle. My suggestion to everyone is..... Trust the man, believe in the man and support him. Join him for for a kick ass adventure through South America. Hang on tight because it's going to be one hell of a ride no matter wtf he's driving! GAS ON!!!!

my bet is front engine rear transaxle plus two spare tires, fuel bladder and spare parts all in the rear should make for a very balanced car. just mha

*shakes my head * it's amazing how many drink their own Kool aid and think for sure they know what they are talking about. I for one trust RG, he's the man who designing and building the HST. Why guess what manufacturer it resembles or where the engine will be? The fact is, RG will be done when he's done and will present it to everyone when HE is ready to.

I believe the car is solar powered. There tiny photo cells embedded inside the carbon fiber. With no engine weight and 50/50 weigh distro, this car is going to float over the dunes. I love the pre Dakar banter. Lets burn a larger fire, it getting cold here in NYC.

Well then, I guess that settles it.

@Mike. That RD comment was more of a sarcastic comment. But using common sense would result in having the engine sitting midway. Havent you posted a comment about the axle being a straight axle. That for sure isnt going to happen. Robby isnt going to drag a diff across the dunes. If its going to end up being a straight axle like in the SST's then game is already over. Such a set up wouldnt make sense at all. Good for Bajas, Bad for Raids. And so would a front engien be, even if its behind the front wheel centers. Robby isnt going to switch from one extreme (behind the rear axle engine) to the other (Front engine). His TT's got a mid engine. I think the perfect set up is a SST type of chassis with an engine-transaxle midship like in the TT, but w/o the solid axle. A front engine only makes sense with using 4WD, not because its 4WD but cause of the short Wheelbase you can run with it. Just look at th ejumps the SST trucks make, the front goes down pretty quick ( theres a video somewhere shot at the SEMA parking lot where it shoots up and almost lands vert on its grill. Mid eng-TRX with IRS or no win. That my take on it. and Sainz, EVR, BJs and all the other 2WD Dakar vehicles'

Robby has no reason to be deceptive about the design, there is no advantage to it. He has said it will be a front engine design in the video and will have doors and a drivers capsule on the down and dirty! So why say 1 thing and build it another way, it's not like he is giving technical specs away to everyone. He also said there was going to be something big next year for SST and BAM! SST is going to X-Games! So basiclly I for 1 believe what he is telling us!

I kinda got the feeling redline was being sarcastic about the "specialist". No matter where the motor is, I haven't seen signs of a front mounted radiator on an SST or the mule. They got to go somewhere, and a vent like the Old H3 would make sense and would be useful if the motor was back there or not.

@redline,what makes the poster's at RDC 'specialist'?
Wouldn't you think actual fans of Robby's might be more in tune with Robby's programs?
ever if there is a vent in the quarter panel how would that make it rear engined?
