Hi Kathie = I didn't find out Robby had won the Baja 500 until yesterday. There was nothing mentioned at Pocono, and I missed Dave Despain because I watched the Tony Awards. Today I checked out TOG's pg. to leave a blog for him, and saw a discussion & photo "Can I sign it too" - posted today - check it out, if you haven't seen it already. Joan

Hi Kathie - If he doesn't crash in final practice or something else - He starts 13th (hope that is a good number for him). Hope they have good weather the race, we are still having rain and unstable weather - it was not good at Pocono either. Joan

HI Kathie - What a bummer about Baja - by the way HAPPY ANNIVERSARY - hope you had a great time. My health issues have been my main thing lately, and am trying to wade through tests, appointments, etc. besides trying to work each day. One by one they rule out this or that, but now it's just become so frustrating. You don't have this or that - OK what is going on - no one seems to know, I'm getting really fed up with
"specialists" who misdiagnose thigs, and I go back to square one. Oh well, hope Robby wins in CA this weekend. The Planet and Robby keep me going. Love all of you out there - Joan

Robby was so upset when in 2nd he got caught by the caution and had to go back. Then crashing on the last lap, he must have been devestated. He went from possible checkers to wreckers, I know he feels like sh-- today. I do too, I was near tears as I made spinach salad for dinner. Joan

Yeah the strategy just didn't work out - we know he can win, just lady luck kicks him in the ass! Checked unofficial standings - he seems to have maintained 34th, by some miracle. Joan

I don't think he will get rid of his crew chief, they really had a good plan. He should have followed Tony in, but they throught by stretching a couple laps, fuel mileage was in the back of their minds. The crash at the end with Jeff Burton, was just the icing on the cake. Joan

I read on NASCAR.com he signed an affidavit to the effect that he supports NASCARS drug program and does not want to be endangered by any driver on drugs (this is in the Mayfield case). However, it doesn't say he is against Mayfield, just that several drivers signed affidavits to the effect that they don't want to be in danger on the track. I did not actually read the affidavits - just the news that Robby had submitted one. Hope NH is good to Robby this weekend. Mayfield insists he does not take drugs - and that the tests were false positives. I personally think someone set hhim up. Joan

Hi Kathie - I just printed a photo of Robby at Louden waving to the crowd at driver
introductions. I've never seen him looking so grim. No smile , very tight lipped. I know he had no sponsor on the car and he also has lost his gut! His Menards uniform is actually hanging on him. I wonder what's going on. Joan

What's your take on the 2 file restarts, at Louden they kind of caused that big one. I'm not a big fan of multi car wrecks. Hope RG does well at Daytona, he needs to climb up in the standings. Joan

Hi Kathie - I got my Scene yesterday and it shows Kyle knocking over a crew member of another team on pit road at last week's race. He's a loose cannon and I think NASCAR should do something like park him for a race or two to stop his behavior before he kills someone. Also just read that a man in VA is 107 and says he eats right and exercises, but he's never been married - that was probably the reason the man got to be 107 - my husband before we divorced aged me 30 years. Hi Kathie - I tried to send a message to all my friends on the planet re: Robby videos on the NASCAR.COM pg. but kept getting "error" messages - so I sent the info to Sarah, hoping she could give everyone a heads up. Have no clue why I couldn't do it. I am hanging in there and Mario said RG has to stay ahead of Scott Speed to stay where he is. His qualifying effort stunk and he starts 41st (his worst ever). He did not do so good at Chicago last year, there was a pre-race post, but not post-race ost - so tht means he had a bad finish. My health is so-so, will see the gastro guy next week. Been busy at work Jason decided to play catch-up this week. Have a good weekend - hope RG does too!!! P.S. I left a commnet on that blurb about facebook saying Robby is gay - they should be sued for defamation of character. Hope the weather holds in Chicago, we are supposed to have t-storms.

Nice pictures....a nice blast from the past and now!

I've been very busy at work, and did get to gastro guy - of course he ordered a test (not till next Sat.) and will see the cardio surgeon on Tues. at 3 p.m. Some days are good, but the other day I had another coughing spell lasting an hour. It's always in the a.m. when I wake u, but now it's not every morning. Strange. RG had an awful time at the Brickyard, spun, cut a tire, lost a lap, but had a fair finish after all those problems. I didn't watch the race, but read the reports on FG.com and watched SPEEd last night for the race recap. Hope you are well and enjoying summer, it finally got here to our neck of the woods. Saw where Texas is haveing a terrible drought, feel bad for them. I appreciate your caring about me - Keep in touch Joan

Hi Kathie - DId you see the Scene (7-30-09) there's a photo of all the drivers and Robby is just behind the trophy - Cool, they also have a photo of his "spin" not so cool. Hope he does well in Pocono, weather here SUCKS right now hot, humid, t-storms there was enven an F-2 tornedo in the Poconos! Awful. Joan

Yeah heard you had horrible storms down there my friend has a shop in Poconoke (Sp) MD and went to VA to buy her cigarettes & got caught in one ugly storm. The Poconos had an F2 last week near Stroudsburg it leveled barns & tore roofs off, yesterday we got one flooding, fires due to lightening and power out all over. It rained so hard one of our windows in my daughter Gail's bedroom poured all over the floor, lucky her computer was about a foot away, but what a mess. Race day today, can't watch, I'm at work, but hope Robby does well. Had ultrasound Sat. will keep you informed. Love Joan

I have a huge photo of the calss of 2004 - It's with a Goodyear logo on it. I have it in my bedroom, would love to have his autograph on it, but it's too big to send through the mail. I left a message on RG's pg. not to let his feelings out over the radio (5 lap penalty) - just belt the offending driver in the solar plexis after the race - my old hockey motto you can lose the game - but never the fight in the parking lot. Hi Kathie - on the main pg of Planet NASCAR says they are going to "talk to Robby" I sure hope they don't park him at Watkins Glen - they also should "talk to Stremme" but you and I know they won't - Helton just hates Robby for some reason, they sabotage him every way they can. Joan

I have to mow grass too. We have not had a lot of rain like the surrounding areas so I can't use that as an excuse. Supposed to be 90 on Sun and Monday. Strange that will be the hottest days this summer. Back to 80's after that. It may not be normal, but I will take it! Have a great weekend!

That interview was on the planet on the home page if you had missed it - not sure it is still there. Well he put a blurb on his home pg. that re: the Lagano incident - by the way that car's paint acheme was awesome. He went to NASCAR himself and there were no repercussions from the Nationwide incident. Sunday HE was just awesome - down 2 laps, bot both back, came from 34th to 18th and also came up one in the pts. to 33rd. This is the Robby we all know and love. He did a great job and stayed out of trouble (mostly). Stremme smacked into a couple of cars on Sunday and I was holding my breath. Keep in touch. JOan

Cool! I look forward to seeing the others. Hey if you would be so inclined, please vote for Chad Criswell at this site for most popular driver. He is a great guy and I have known him for at least 20 years. I work with his dad too. http://www.centralparacing.com/ I try to catch his races at the Grove when I can. He was racing against Kasey K. about 2 weeks ago at a charity event. It was a lot of fun.

Thanks for your well wishes- I go in on Sept. 4 (that's a long weekend and will give me time to recoup & get back to work. I was upset that Roby got a DNF
but evidently his compeittion did not gain, so he is still 33rd in points. RELIEF! That boy has got to get up to around 25 ot 26 so he can afford a few goofs like smacking the wall at Michigan. I don't want to have to watch him race his way in each week. Joan

What happened? He cut a tire somehow and hit the wall hard. He lasted a few laps, but finally was off and then out. He was 37th the only good thing was he is still 33rd because a lot of his competition had a rough weekend too. Joan

Hi no cath - too many allergies, so am back to square one. On Robby's pg. they said he was going to run the "prelude" , but I did not see his name in the listing after the race. Did not watch (pay for view). I know he is scheduled for Primm this weekend, hope he is recovering and able to do well. Hate to see him lose the championship because of injuries. Joan

I just checked out NASCAR.COM they have a video of Robby & D. Gilliland at an Army base near Richmond before the Richmond race. They gave RG a ride in one of their vehicles, and they signed autographs, & got placques. Robby looked good, one cheek still a little swollen, but the eye is cleared up. I don't think Robby is the kind to put pancake make-up on a black eye. LOL. JOan,

HI Kathie - Haven't been on much lately - busy here at work. Worse than the crash is the crushing blow I read on NASCR.com -JIM BEAM is not returning to the #7 cup car in 2010. They have been with Robby since the start of his race team, but have decided to spend ad dollars elsewhere. Of course, his poor performance may well have had something to do with their pulling out. Hello again - Have to see cardiologist on Monday and find out what is next. Did you watch the "Smarter than a 5th Grader"? David Regan did OK, Michael Waltrip won a lot of money for Victory Junction Gang Camp. Carl Edwards and a couple of other drivers are slated for next week and the week after. Hey Robby actually led a lap on Sunday, ended up 32nd, but he was top ten most of the day before the BIG ONE - he went spinning into the grass, don't know if it stalled or what, but he did finish. Newman's wreck was awful, I hope he is OK, he was rubbing his head even after he got out of the care center. Joan

Wow they kept that hush hush - but I read in the Scene A.J. Allmondinger is on probation through the 2010 season - he had a dwi (DUI) in Mooresville, N ON 10/19. . THey fined him $10,000 - NASCAR did not suspend him, but are doing periodic blood-alcohol tests. Joan

Robby WON!!! Got the Championship at Baja - he may not be JJ in NASCAR - but off-road he's a champ. I sure hope he can get sponsorship for 2010. He only has a sponsor for 8 races. I'd like to see a photo of the Baja trophy. Glad he won. Joan
