Heck w/Superbowl - some guy/gal in North Carolina won the mega jackpot of $140 million - I kept praying it was Robby - then he wouldn't have to worry about money for this year he could sponsor his team for the whole year. If it was YOU god bless you. Joan
Cleaning yes - filing not all done yet - they have been keeping me occupied with other stuff. The snow is getting to me they say we are getting another 12 or more inches today over tomorrow. Travel was OK yesterday, but today buses were late. I was on a bus, had to get off because some jerk running for the bus fell and went under the bus I was on. We all had to depart and wait for next one, and he did not even want our bus - so he was running for nothing. In this weather running for a bus NOT SMART. Keep in touch - will be out of office tomorrow - SNOW!! Joan
Just dropping by to say hi. Didn't get the snow I wanted for my b-day but at least I'm getting some sunshine (and low 40's) and I'll take that. Have a great day!
Good grief. So how is this global warming working out for ya? Snow is going to be piled as high as we are tall (or at least me) at the rate your getting it. And hopefully it won't be hot at Indy, but we won't complain at this rate.
Cliff is cooking me dinner for my b-day and it hasn't been too bad at work today, so all in all not to bad.
Stay warm and safe.
Cliff fixed a big pot of spagetti with hot Italian sausage, garlic bread and a salad oh right and red wine. It was a very nice evening to wind up a nice tame birthday. Kinda miss the days when I spent my b-day out at the BBQ cook-off, but oh well.
I am doin my best to send sunshine you're way with a little stop by Gibby's. Amazingly the sun is out again this morning, however, rain is on the way with a chance of it turning to sleet or a light "wintery mix" Which means cold wet and miserable.
And I've done the rain at Indy, and tornados, and hot and cold. And gotten sunburned so bad that Vitor Miera was afraid he was going to hurt me when he huggd me. lol Ah the memories.
YOU stay warm and safe. And I don't even want to think of you not having any power. That would be just too too awful. Have a great day.
Your check arrived today! Thankyou very much for your generous donation to Special Olympics as well! I appreciate it and the Rainbow Girls REALLY appreciate it!!!! Hope you are well and that the snow in your area is done for the rest of the year! Sending you plenty of sunshine, warmth, and lots of HUGS as well! Take care, I love you!
PS, Just got home from an initiation for Eastern Star, otherwise I would NOT be up right now! Time for a "Mouse" nap!!!!
Today was a washout but tomorrow will be sunny. Cold, but at least dry. It will be a long day with the double header! Having a great time despite the weather.
Wine & ice cream. Yum! We are going to have fun, I can't wait! Dang, I haven't even figured out what Jerry and I are doing in April yet. So many vacations, so little time. I don't know how the economy can be bad the way I'm spending money.
We've been going to Daytona for the past 9 years and it was the worst weather we've had yet. Have you been down for a 500? There's just so much excitement it's hard to explain. We've been to several other tracks and events and there's nothing like it. Start planning now to make it next year!
P.S.... just noticed your profile description above. We meet Bobby Allison in Homestead last year. What a great guy! He was getting out of a limo outside the track near a corner where my husband and I were the only people standing. He was heading into the track for a presentation but still took a minute for pics with us. Hubby asked him how he would like driving the cars today and he was emphatic "No way!" Much preferred the ones he drove in his day. Can't blame him! Harvick and Bowyer are my #2 also. I was really pulling for him (Kev) on Saturday.
I was hoping to see you, but after the weather knew that it probably wouldn't happen. Guess we got about three feet total. Didn't see much in the show, they closed it early on Wed and opened at 12 on Thursday..lost some hours and we had omly had three guys this year....I did talk to an outfitter about an African trip...photo Safari...which is doable a few years down the road...I've set my goal for within five years for that...Our company did very well considering, with better weather we would have passed last year's total....Guess I am being asked to go back again next year, hadn't really planned on it, but will GO.....
Neat story. We enjoy Speedweeks in Daytona but skip the 500. Everyone should do it once but it's way too crowded to really enjoy. There's just an excitement in the air with hopes for a new season. Everyone is ready to get back on the track after a long winter's nap. We have season tickets to Homestead and love that track. Spent a lot of time in Dover and Pocono when we lived up there. Haven't been to 'dega yet but it's on our list. We're trying to sell our business. When we do, it's RV time and as many tracks as we can hit. I've followed different drivers over the years. I liked Jeffy when he was a rookie. Back then rookies didn't win at first. But that was short lived. Followed Jr. for a bit in my daughter's spirit. She wanted to be on his pit crew but God needed her home before he got his first Busch ride. Mostly I was a Kyle Petty fan, another rebel. We've ridden in a shorter leg of his charity ride with him and Pattie a few times. Good people.
We've been to the Camp. Volunteering there is on our list as well. It was back when it first opened and we know they added a lot, but it was still an amazing achievement. And now they're building one in Kansas City too. I want to write a book about their success in the wake of tragedy once we're in the RV. Pattie was going to work with me on one for bereaved parents a while back but she got busy with camp and we bought the business so the project got shelved. I also want to write Robby's biography. What a fascinating subject! So many books in my head, so little time! We've been going to races for about 20 years now. It was all so very different back then... Hey, maybe that can be another book!
I'm so tired of snow. Glad you got dug out though. We are supposed to get more snow next week. I'm so sick of snow. Maybe it's time to start looking for employment down south. Maybe I can get a job taking pictures at NASCAR races.
I'm done posting pictures, videos and blogs, so go to my page and check them out.
Thanks for the support, Sarah. I've reached the age where I realize that if I want to do something, I'd better get cracking! What great memories you have of the days when racing was still a competitive sport and not a corporation. All things grow and change, but not always for the better. Have a good day!
Hello Love!!!! Thanks soooo much for the "cheese cake" as well as the Birthday wishes! You didn't have to set your alarm though to get up and send them to me though! hehehe!!! Hope all is well your way?? We got 6 inches of the white crap late yesterday and into the evening!!!! We head out to sunny(hopefully) and warm California tomorrow morning and will be back on late Monday evening for our convention! Hope all goes well! Take care and have a great weekend! Love ya
HI Sarah - Actually, I liked the lull (red flag) we got interviews with most drivers - even Robby and I held out to the bitter end AND IT was BITTER - Jeffy wrecked Robby on the last lap, quite a bit of damage. Only good thing is Robby is 27th in driver/owner poitns. Up from 34th. I know it won't last because he won't be in all the races, but for now it's all good. Still battling ice, I hung my car up on a huge chunk and ripped off some plastic under the bumper - will see how much it costs to fix (next summer!). My new tires are getting beat up too, but I am glad I got them, because I do have good tread. Otherwise, I'd be skidding around like the rest of the people here. We still have mounds over our heads only instead of white they are now dirty and disgusting looking. Picture Filthy moutaintops. Joan
Hey woman where are you - wish we could meet for a lunch or something. Saturday, I'll be hanging home till about noon, waiting for my exterminator - we had mice all through the apt. complex last year, so I keep them coming here - no sign of vermon for at least 6 months which is surprising since it has been so awful outside. Guess they found a better home, good riddance. I'm here till 5:00 p.m. today Brodsky & Smith, Bala Cynwyd. Joan
Hey! Sorry I didn't ever see you post on my page, but just in case you are still wondering what you can do I can give you a few things.
Georgetown Rd is the place to be. Parking is all down that road, I actually work on Lot 2 by Gate 6. Souvenir trailers, Scoal tents, and a lot of people will be there on race weekend. Definitely try to get pit passes if you can afford to. It is well worth being in the pits and garage area. Stop by the museum (even though I have never been inside) it is nothing short of amazing. The night of the race, a lot of people gather on Georgetown and a lot of people walk for the entire night and sometimes it gets a little crazy. I know the Coca-Cola lot is always busy and they have some good parties and stuff by fans. Don't know where you are sitting for the race, but wherever it is you will have a great time. Hope this helps a bit.
Well yesterday was a bummer all the way around. I left my house to go to Rite Aid, while in the parking lot, my car (I think) got a hit. Anyway when I came out and turned the wheel there was squealing. We drove to a store and got power steering fluid and that helped, but it all ran out while we were out, so today I had to take the car to the mechanic. I guess this will be very costly. Then Robby finished 33rd and JJ won, and I just got more bummed. I don't know where RG is in the standings right now, the official numbers are not on the board yet, but ican't be good. Joan
Hi Sara - I do hope we can get together one of these days. The mechanic called, my 4 wheel baby has to stay overnight. She has a cracked connecting hose and when they turned the wheel the fluid squirted everywhere. Fortunately, not a fortune to fix, the fluid was dirty anyway, and should have been flushed and replaced. Hope they don't find anything else while they are "fixing" this. Have a good evening - it's going to rain here and Idon't have to shovel rain. Joan
We were in conference most of the weekend and had no time to sight see. California is very green - trees, grass and they have flowers! I haven't seen a leaf since November when they fell off!
Hi there! wow you were up early this am. We have SNOW today!! We are going to get a foot by tomorrow and then another storm on Thursday with a larger accumulation (so they say). I am so excited!! I know I am weird but I love the snow. I hope you had a great day!
Jeez the last two posts you made to me are right before 5am. Maybe you need to drink more, that will help you sleep! Or dream about cute NASCAR drivers butts! BYW, I'm almost done uploading pictures for you to check out.
I would put no stock in that schedule. It is the same dates for all the drivers, so not necessarily those he choose for himself. You would outbid me on my birthday? That's harsh. Maybe we could share the ride. Looks like someone else plans on bidding on that date too! I wonder why Kevin isn't doing it? It would be funny to get Path a ride with Kyle. ;)
Hmmm, I didn't notice that they had less races than everyone else. Shows how much attention I was paying to those two. I'm still not assuming anything. I hope to see Robby in Indy and New Hampshire, but if he isn't, like you said, I will still have fun with my Planet friends.
We had about a foot of wet snow today. We were supposed to get a bigger storm for tomorrow but now they are saying that the storm is going to bring in warmer weather so we are going to get an inch or 2 and then it will switch to all rain. RATS!!! About 20 miles from here got 26.5 inches of snow today! Close call. Hope you had a good day!
actuallly, unfortunately, i will be here for the whole weekend as my vacation plans were cancelled! ;( i am not sure that i will be able to go to the track but am hoping to have fun anyway! hope all is well with you!
The Mouse is back in town and trying to get back into the swing of things here! Hope all is well your way?? It is raining cats and dogs here right now and most of our snow is now gone!! It's been a pretty easy winter here so far compared to last winter! It is supposed to be in the low 40"s thru the weekend! We will take that for sure! Hope most or at least alot of your snow has vanished as well!! California was rainy the whole time we were there, but that didn't really bother us as we were inside for most of the weekend at a conference!!! Donald Trump was the keynote speaker. He was AWESOME!!!!! Flight delays on the way home, but other than that, things went well!!!! Need to get back into chat and catch back up with everyone soon! Miss you! Love ya
I finally got my pictures uploaded. You will have to go through and find all the butt shots, I got more than just KH's. Here they are: http://bit.ly/de6Osl
