Profile Information:

When did you become a Robby fan ?
I've been a Robby fan since he came to NASCAR. I cheered for him when he was with Childress and loved his style. Robby reminded me of the guys that raced way back when, ready to take on the world and stand up for himself and not take shit from anyone.
What type of racing do you like ?
Yes
Will Robby ever win the Dakar Rally ?
Hell Yes!

Lane was Walter Giles wife and she threw a temper tantrum when I sided with my members instead of her and she deleted her account.

I got to do it 17 times. mostly as part of a support team. Bikes, Cars and Trucks. Had the gift of being part of nine winning teams over the years. I met Robby for the first time in San Felipe Baja, sititng around the pool at the hotel drinking Coronas. I think thats the year we won overall (Brian Collins/Jack Johnson Class 1) and Robby was first Class 8 truck. Not positive. That was a long time ago and im old now. :) It was fun because Ivan Stewart was leading the race physically with major air support and radio links. We had nothing like that, but I was listening to Cal Wells (Ivan's team owner) on the radio and he was giving split times. I could tell Jack exactly where he was behind Ivan on time and we won the race by like 11 seconds.

Thanks for the comment and hope you don't mind that I added you as a friend. I don't make a lot of comments on the site but do enjoy reading yours and others that make comments. I usually read the site at work and usually the comments back me chuckle!!

  • Walt Pendleton

I am leaving tommorrow afternoon for San Felipe. I will try to do updates if I can get internet service. You will probably have a better idea than me listening to weatherman.
  • Sarah

I read the article as I saw a thread on it. You are right, it IS about time Robby got some pats on the back for his hard work. Keep warm Joan. Remember, we still have at least 2 more months of this weather!! TTYL!

About my job, it's getting to be a true joke with those of us left there, every other day the plan changes. A whole department is staying, the next day, it's going. Then there are the rest of us who know our jobs are going but not when. As for Robby, I am happy to see that he is doing well, now if he can get to first without any calamity...

Hi again, Joan. I really do enjoy reading articles like that about RG, as it tells me that he isn't the bad guy he has sometimes been made out to be. No matter what they say about him, they can never deny his talent.
  • Pathfinder7

Rodman's article was a good one and someone did post it here. Dealing with extreme cold right now and not liking it at all.

I know he made it to the finish of the timed special. I have not heard word if he has made it back to the bivouac or not, but it appears as though he has made it to the bivouac per the Posi page on Dakar.com. It shows him arriving at 16:41 (4:41pm) local time.
  • Sarah

We can only hope Joan!! We can only hope!!!!
Hope all is well your way! Keep warm!

    Hey Joan!

Good to hear from you again! Hope you're having a wonderful new year.

Been very busy here. I am a full time life guard, I coach for the special olympics, and I am taking EMT classes while volunteering at the Mooresville Fire Department. I am loving every moment of it though!

Hope all finds you well and I am looking forward to this season of NASCAR. I think Robby and the team will have a very good year with Toyota!

    Hi Joan,

If I was here to bash RG I'm pretty sure I would have done it quite some time ago. I actually just dropped in to give a pat on the back to the people who picked up the ball after the uprising debacle. It take a tremendous amount of work and I just wanted TOG and his admin staff to know what a remarkable job they are doing. The are helping to fulfill the vision.

I've been telling RG for years it's not the results... it is the stories we get to tell that are important because who seriously cares if Jimmie Johnson just won his eighteenth consecutive title...Stories win every time.

    Thanks for accepting my 'friendship'.

I had a great holiday season. I'm doing well, just trying to keep busy before I go back to college next week. Hows everything with you?
  • Rob Harris

    Joan,

You are brilliant. I wonder why we never thought of that.

You should contact RG...I believe there is an opening.
