Yep, you got the bullseye, nobody home last night. Gonna be watchin the UFC fight tonight too. So won't be on tonight either. I'll def be watchin the race Sun, though. Should be a good one. Hey, Sarah! I missed you too! I am now in my new home, still gradually moving things out of the other place, but at least we are on the downhill side of the whole thing now. I have only been here sporadically while we were moving, but hope to be back more often now. We are living in the country now and loving it, except for a couple of snakes that got in, a copperhead that came into the garage the week before we moved in, that thankfully my husband and the game warden got rid of, but just yesterday we found out that we have a black snake living in our semi-finished basement. The upside of him being there is no mice and he ate the toad that was there, we sort of knew something was up because the toad was there for a week then Dale took him outside and tossed him over the back fence, then he came back last week and he had planned to dispose of him since we found out that toads can kill dogs and make people very sick if not kill them also. Then he disappeared. Yesterday we went downstairs to check for him and couldn't find him, then my husband pulled on my sleeve and told me to walk out, and he shows me the snake in the rafters in the corner of the basement. I spent 10 anxious minutes with the flashlight trained on the snake waiting for him to get his gun with the snake shot in it. He comes
downstairs with a box and a hoe. He then told me that it was not poisonous and that we were going to call the game warden again. She and my husband went downstairs and looked and looked for it but it was hidden again, she then told us that it was more afraid of us than we were of it, and that it was the reason we didn't have any mice down there and that it probably was there before we moved in. So until we see him again, we just have to live with him for now.

No, you aren't strange. I just wasn't around snakes as a kid but I was around tiny frogs and other creatures of the wild on summer trips to my grandparents' home. And my sister was a major contributor to my bug and creature education, we had just never encountered a snake. The closest I have ever come until now was when we were sitting in my Bio 101 class watching the snake eat his mouse dinner. Then at Natural Bridge we saw a snake gliding through the water under the walkway. I am just worried that this one will make an appearance when I least expect it and fall on me or I will step on him, then one of us will die, me of fright or him after I was frightened.
