Stage 7 - Friday, January 9

Mendoza (ARG) > Valparaiso (CHL)

Connection: 80 km | Special: 419 km | Connection: 317 km | Total: 816 km
The variety of terrains and landscapes, a constant given for the Dakar 2009, is evident once again on this stage, where, in addition to a change of country, most of the competitors will get to know the Cordillera of the Andes. Before measuring themselves with the mountains, they must cross over a series of dunes and endure a session of fesh fesh, which is identical to Saharan sand, but which the inhabitants of the region call “guadal”. Concerning the mountains, this will be the only special to include passageways at 3,000 meters on technical routes that will sometimes allow a glimpse of the Aconcagua, the highest point in the Andes (6,959 m). Then, competitors will cross the border on the link section to reach the sea at Valparaiso.

We all know Robbys not a fulltime rally racer. With that said it looks like he is starting to get back in the hang of things, so look out it's go time!
I don't think Robby ever got "out" of the hang of things...he is using some patience for a change. Someone is whispering the right sweet nothings in his ear and it's working. Baja Bob???
thats working good.
way old nick name for him years ago.. "Flash Gordon".
The Hummer is the "FOCUS" in todays TV highlights. It just showed here in Portugal
Once again, I came here for updates and info on the stage and ended up having a few good laughs to make up for a totally shitty afternoon. Thanks for the visuals (Peterpuffer roasting marshmallows etc). :)
Hell ya Vigouroux came in 7th today. He will start not far behind Robby on Sunday. That will be a huge help if Robby gets in trouble, not that Robby will. (knock on wood) really I just did.
not with a broken Steering Pump.
Right now I like Viguroux as the choice for second car. Not that Baldwin woulnnt have been good but I respect the way he has gently moved up every day, hauling lots of spares and making no mistakes. If Robby gets on the podium at the finish I predict Eric will play a part sometime next week. At this point in the other Dakars we were more or less out of the picture. Robbys really got his head in the right place this year and keeping it in the show. Hes definately "Top driver with no budget" Gas on!
Boy I hope and pray we can all say "top driver [in top 20] with no budget" after the cup season.
