The California Highway Patrol has been on the BMW's for 6 or 7 years now. My parents neighbor tells a funny story about some Harley guys giving him a hard time about getting a "real" bike. He says "I prefer the BMW, because if somebody decides to run from me, I want to be able to catch'em".

I can believe the Harley is more comfortable to ride with its spongy suspension and low center of gravity. But in a pursuit situation the Harley sucks. I've never seen a Glide ripping it through the twisties.

back in the day,all the Kawasaki police units in the Seattle area where sold and serviced by the dealership I worked for.About the time I left that dealership, the PD's where switching back to EVO Harley's.While they where still turds performance wise. The officiers claimed less fatigue riding the Harley.Bellevue uses Honda's

For the first time in its history, the Michigan State Police switched from Harleys to BMW R1200s. Why? According to State Police testing the BMW handles "dramatically" better and is much faster.

How much faster? The BMW went from 0-100 m.p.h. in less than 11 seconds compared to the Harley's 31 seconds. Top Speed: BMW, 131mph. Harley, 104mph.

The biggest cut of all? A State Police analysis labeled the Harley as a "capable vehicle for parade and ceremonial use." Ouch.

Will, if you can find a old Bassani GP pipe it really brings it to life.

Ben Spies leaving Yamaha in 2013. Not surprised, but curious what he will be riding.

Very good., 74' just like the one Dad has at my brothers place. The other one my Grandpa bought new in '74, and even though we all rode it at one time or another it never hit the ground. Now everybody is afraid to drop it for the first time, so Dad bought this one to race. The thing even came with 5 different sprockets, and a spare set of wheels with brand new trials tires mounted up ! Looks like Dad's mechanic will be busy testing this stuff out...

Nice Alpina. Looks like a '74-'75?
