I was browsing the shelves at my local DVD store and I ran across a copy of Dust to Glory. I had heard alot about it here on PlanetRobby, but I had never seen it. So I had to purchase it.. and now I'm hooked. Not that I wasn't before. For all of you out there that haven't seen the movie, I strongly suggest doing so. I wish somebody would have made me watch it earlier!!

Here's the summary off of www.imdb.com:

An action-adventure documentary chronicling the most notorious and dangerous race in the world--the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Rivaling the Indy 500 and 25 Hours of Daytona, the race across Baja's peninsula is unpredictable, grueling and raw--just like the uncharted American West of yesteryear. To capture the vast desert panoramas and intense action of the race, the film team utilized, fifty-five cameras, four helicopters, a four-passenger buggy camera car and a crew of over eighty people. Thousands of participants, generations of families and racing icons such as Robby Gordon, Mario Andretti, Jimmy Vasser and Motorcycle Supercross legend Mike Mouse McCoy joined together to experience the thrill and glory of the infamous race--an event of sheer human determination.

I am so pumped for the Baja 500 in June!! Wouldn't it be cool if someone could convince Dana Brown to follow Robby and Team Dakar USA in the 2010 Dakar Rally?

True Bill, they focused more on Andy than they did Robby.. awsome footage of the bikes!! That was a great battle between the "A" & "B' teams!
This is a great movie. Probably one of the best racing movies made in the last decade or so. The action combined with the soundtrack is a must. It's one of those you'll watch over and over again.
I don't know Dana Brown, but from what I have heard and understand, the only thing stopping more excellent film coverage is $$$. I would be down in Baja and South America, making the comprehensive, definitive movie if I had the $$$. There is talk on the street that Dust to Glory has not ever broken even -- maybe that has changed with Wal Mart dvd sales, etc. I hope so -- Dana Brown, Scott Waugh, and Marty Fiolka did an excellent job in D2G - they deserve to be rich from this effort!
For those of you youngstgers, Dana Brown's dad is Bruce Brown, who did a movie in the early 70's called On Any Sunday. It followed several cycle riders, including Malcolm Smith at all types of racing and had a nice segment on Baja. The film was totally funded by Steve McQueen, who was also in the movie. Probally the best cycle/racing film ever made. You can still rent it at Blockbuster and its a dated but great movie. Like me, it inspired literally thousands of people to climb on a dirt bike.
i watched "on any sunday" yestrday for free online. malcom smith is a badmofacky.
I not only love this movie, but I bought the soundtrack. It is my requirement to listen to during the week of an off road race and during Dakar. I also got hooked on Jeremy Kay, he has several great CD's.
