They are trading qulaity trakcs and quality racing for bigger markets.

Losing tracks with personality like North Wilkesboro and Rockingham. Plus cutting Darlington and Atlanta from 2 dates per year to 1 and adding dates at tracks with no personality like: Las Vegas, Fontana, Loudon, Kansas, Chicago, Kentucky and Homestead is killing the series.

IF NASCAR wants to add more juice to the series take away one of the 2 races at: Kansas, Pocono, Loudon, Michigan and Phoenix those tracks don't provide good enough racing to have 2 races per year. Give Darlington and Atlanta back their 2nd date, and add dates at North Wilkesboro, Rockingham and Iowa Speedway. That small change would have a large impact.

In other words Bruton Smith has been bad for NASCAR.

Kansas got a second race because we are getting lights for a night race and then there will be a casino within walking distance of the track. Should be fun!
BORING LONG RACES.ON COOKIE CUTTER TRACKS.
let jr and a few of the other big stars stay down in the points, and you'll see change... the best thing that could happen for nascar is for the Trevor Factor to continue.... Robby grabs the win this week,,,, and a couple other of the less known teams in the coming weeks... shake up the whole thing.. keep jimmy, carl, jeff, kyle and denny out of victory lane over and over... at the start of the race you really shouldnt know who is going to win... and that is the way its been for years now. people are bored with it... the races are not too long, just watching the same cars in the top 5 for all the laps is what makes it seem that way ...
@Jess, I completely agree, the racing would be exciting if you had no idea who is going to win. Like World Superbike.
Over 30 Million people watched Sunday.. nuff said!!
Attendance was up too!
There is two problems in NASCAR.
1. It's more of a buisness than a sport. It's all about the money.
2. When I started watching NASCAR you had a lot of differant personalitys. Now you have 42 clones and Robby! Which is why I'm a fan. If Kyle didn't whine I would be a fan of his. I like how he's out there to win.
Gas on. Let's see that 7 in victory lane.
I agree with most of what everyone has said.

But, if NASCAR is going to grow again they need to get over Dale Earnhardt. I never liked the way he drove over everyone and was never a fan of his. I cheered when he went into the wall that day as I was thinking hey "pay back time!" Of course I didn't know it had killed him until later and felt really shitty then.

NASCAR thinks the reason the sport grew so much in the 1990s was because of Dale and I have never understood that. They keep trying to make Jr the second coming of his Dad and he just isn't the same. I don't dislike Jr as he is a pretty cool guy, but he is a real ho-hum driver. Any number of drivers including Robby would be winning with the 88 car and all Jr does is drive around the track in it.
don't think you've paid much attention to Kyle lately, have you Dan ?
I've been saying for years as much as I love Pocono (it's 15 or so minutes from my house) I would love to see NASCAR race one of their races up there on the roadcourse. For those that don't know Pocono has a few infield roadcourse configurations and with a new coat of asphalt some barriers & temporary grandstands around the track all their road courses could be combined into a nice full "GP Style" road course.

See the attachment for the track layout. It's just a shade over 3miles long.

I agree with that, but the Mattiolis would have to put a ton of cash into the track to ever make that happen. Too bad they spent so much on the Solar Field. Remember, that place where there used to be parking?
1. Broadcasting... 1st 1/3 on Fox then all go to cable except for a few night races on ABC.

2. Hendrick/Johnson/Dale Jr.? Never been a big #24 fan, but he's my favorite in that stable, ever since they relegated Martin to the 4th car chassis & crews.

3. Add a road course to the chase so JJ doesn't take another...

4. Maybe an even split across the board. 4 Plate races, 4 Short Tracks, 4 Road tracks, 4 Cookie Cutters, 4 Flat tracks, 4 High banks, maybe cycle through 4 "new" tracks each season & see if any catch... take 4 more "off" weeks & race a few more charity "Prelude to the Dream" fund raisers w/dirt modifieds, maybe Tropy Trucks. Biffle, JJ, Casey Mears, KyB & others all dig the dunes... maybe RG can school em in the desert for charity & publicity.

Maybe they need to form seperate leagues like the NFL, or let drivers pick from a number of races & tracks all around the country. Every driver is required a minimum number of races on certain track types, etc... with the final Chase races designated for the top point getters from each division, This might let a few of the smaller budget teams get more track time & more "local" sponsership.

Don't micro-manage the local tracks & force shade-tree race team to comply with expensive requirements.
