What If.... Road Course at Daytona under the Lights in CHASE

Can you imagine if they added a few more lights on the infield and let these guys have at it under the lights on the RC at Daytona during the CHASE?! It would be awesome.

Even without the lights, adding an RC race at Daytona or Indy in the CHASE would be great for the typical NASCAR fan because you could see more of the track from your seat. Maybe NASCAR would go for something like this?

I like this idea
Like it!!!!
I'd like to see it on TV but elevation changes are what make road courses in NAZICAR ............i'd rather see Road America
I love that idea, but they'd have to give up the July race and a ton of the infield camping, etc. to make it work. If you look at the aerial view of the track during speedweeks, the International horseshoe is loaded with RV's. NASCAR would never let that happen, I'm afraid.

That said, I'd love to see a better balance of road courses in the sport - understanding that it's roots are on ovals, but also keeping in mind there are great road courses no longer hosting races such as Riverside. At least 2 more road races would be awesome. I love the idea of Road America - the Nationwide race from there last year was a blast to watch. I'm personally a little partial to my home track - Barber Motorsports Park - but it's capacity and proximity to Talladega take that out of the running immediately.
I would not take away the July race. The RC at Daytona is essentially a different track. I think this would allow Daytona to look at it diff. They would have the big draw from the 2 races they expect and then get fewer fans the 3rd time for the betterment of the Sport. Maybe ISC could give up a 2nd date at one of its other tracks.

If there is too much of a hang up on Daytona getting 3. Then run a day race on RC at Indianapolis. Again don't sacrafice the Brickyard 400. Indy only expects 1 right now and the RC is s dif track.

Under the lights RC racin would be cool, but the selling point I was trying to get acrossed was that Fans could see a lot of the track from one seat at either Daytona or Indy (more than the Glen. Sonoma is the exception when comes to seeing a lot of the action at RC's and I think this is an advantage it holds over most). This has been a draw back to some traditional NASCAR fans when looking at RC's.

Edit - The gentleman in one of the other discussions was getting at the same thing when he suggested that NASCAR run the RC at Pocono. However, I would be all for Sliding Sonoma into the CHASE and adding Road America or Montreal if it was easier for NASCAR to wrap their head around.
Road America is an amazing road course and Nascar needs to go to Montreal....
road america was awesome, and I'm assuming you mean Cup cars to Montreal... I was there this past summer for the NW race, and it was awesome.. nothing like sitting 10 feet from the start/finish line watching Robby lead a lap..
Daytona already has plenty of lighting. The Rolex 24 runs without a hitch year after year. I would rather see Robby do the Daytona Road Coarse in an IRL car! IRL came down here a time or two to test. They need to make a deal to bring them here. I think Robby would love that idea also.
Rolex cars have headlights...which could easily be added to cup cars if they wanted to.
I like it
My husband and I have been saying this for a while now. Or even Homestead. The Grand Am races here are always cool, even without the elevation. Run the series finale on Homestead's RC and see how quickly the cream of the field rises to the top. We might finally see a points shakeup coming down to the wire. Daytona would be good but nobody would go for 3 races at the same venue.
A Homestead finale on the road course... I like it.
I'd rather see it somewhere in the middle of the chase, but I can imagine the hype if "JJ needs to finish higher than 24th to take the tite" going into a RC. Might even make Homestead an event to watch.
