Hey planetrobby members. My family and I are traveling down to Spartanburg SC next week to attend a friends wedding. I figured this would be a great opportunity to visit the #7 shop. Does anyone know if it is open to the public and or any other information you can share would be great.
Thanks

You can stop in to most of the shops, some are more fan friendly than others.

Im not sure about Robbys shop, when I was in Nascar he was bouncing around between teams after the failed Morgan Mcclure deal. I think he still might have had a few cars over at Irvan-Simo, regardless what Im trying to say is I dont know much about RGMs current location orgeneral practices for fan tours.

I would suggest calling ahead.
If your in the area, stop in...& bring your camera.
Robby's been known to give tours himself, when his schedule allows.
I went to his shop in 2004 but the door was closed lol, but RCR was open.
I don't think it's officaly open to the public but stop anyways because ya never know who could be there.
RGM is right off hwy 77 & exit 24 (Harris blvd) I would say go mid-afternoon, like Mike/WC77 said, RG himself might be there and give you a personal tour.. if not they will have some fan cards etc.. good luck!
phone numbers and address on jayski.nice folks at shop even if it aint open to public stop and someone will show you around.
There is big viewing windows so you can see almost everything in the shop and there are fan cards up front in the office. When we get into All-star week and the 600 there usually is a spot cleared out by a side door so people can come inside to a taped off area to see more. Don't know what the plans are this year since the shop is more full with cars from storage and off-road.
Call ahead 704-949-1255 and tell the person who answers the phone what you want to do. It's a pretty laid back shop and you shouldn't have any problems.

The first time I went there, I was blown away by his building. Not that I expected his one-car operation to be in a barn next to the cows, but his building is a first-class structure and his front lobby is beautiful - very well designed (I know, that sounds less than manly).

His shop is off the interstate but once you exit, it's a little further down in a business park - kind of out of the way in a way. Have fun.
Just to let everyone know I called robby's shop and explained how I would be passing through Charlotte. The woman who picked up the phone said the viewers area won't be open until the charlotte race. I asked if anything was open and she said no. so no pictures, sorry. Hope robby can bring home a good finish at Richmond. Gas On!!
I stopped by the shop the day after the August Bristol race. Everything was locked up, but the shop manager saw my buddy and I peeking through the window just trying to get a peek inside of the shop. He came up to us, took us in and gave us a tour of the whole shop and answered all of our questions. We even got to walk through the hauler and got a decent picture of the car that Robby had raced the night before!! I would recommend going to the shop and just take a look around the grounds. Wear your Robby gear and maybe somone will let you in.
