two tumble weeds would be considered a race. So I figured I'd throw out a thought I had a bit a go. Maybe throwing it out is what I should do. When looking at the possible drivers for the SST the category of NASCAR crawled up and there I see Steve Wallace (I don't know his history on dirt and don't care to go look) Kenny Wallace (That can't miss) and Ricky Stenhouse (a reported up and coming star I thought). No matter the age or updated version, it got me thinkin..........I wonder how many if any drivers from NASCAR might end up coming over and tryin this? Given the outside chance that sponsorship for next year is not to be found and for some lets face it........no matter how fun it must be crankin along at 190 MPH the situation to be a back marker might not be as enjoyable if there is a chance to go join this SHOW. Given a mans coffer is well padded and a career change is not much of a change other than travel arrangements that is. I ask simply a two part I guess: If a driver finds himself suddenly available to get out or be forced out of dodge would he (or she) be able to and have time to get a team on board. For the sake of saying sometime around Daytona crunch time?

Permalink Reply by Chris Koropeski on July 25, 2012 at 8:07pm well, it's not exactly tumbleweeds, but here's some local ice racing action from thunder bay, ontario. A national celebrity (Rick Mercer) came here a few years back (2008) and filmed this. Coldest day of the year.. -31.6 Celcius, -24.9F.. winds made it way way colder.. somewhere in around -41C (-41F).

Permalink Reply by Bruce Smith on July 25, 2012 at 11:22pm I see the upper level of drivers from different series being able to do this with their sponsors backing. And of course there will be a few guys that are new and havn't made a name for themselves yet, but are sponsored by the family trust fund.
I hope JJ is able to do the SST's. I also would like to see Tony Stewart in an SST. I would expect Ryan Hunter-Reay to be there too. More then anything I want to see Danica doing it. I don't know that she has ever even played at off-road stuff though.
All that being said I wonder if some of the bigger names will hold back at first to see if this is the real deal? What Robby is doing is huge and MEGA big bucks are required for it to work. You know there are people questioning if he can do it as planned. But, I bet not many on this forum are on that list.
Permalink Reply by Rob Waldrip on August 1, 2012 at 10:36pm Yeah, I'd like to Danica do it too just to get rear-ended (no pun intended) and crash another vehicle. I'd rather see J. Long than Danica.
I'd expect Robby to do a special event something like El-Dora back east maybe featuring JJ, Tony, Busch, Biffle, Mears and more. That would put people in the stands back there and creat a foundation to launch from on the east-coast and or mid-west.

SST,MonsterTruck racing and Polaris Razors in a nut shell.
Permalink Reply by Bruce Smith on July 26, 2012 at 10:58pm With a field of 30 trucks doing qualifing and heat races. Then a semi -main for a few to transfer to the main, people will be seeing lots of action. Then the other stuff will be interesting to many, but not myself. If they need to burn more time I bet RG already has a plan to add another class of cars or bikes.
I recall somewhere in my mind a memory of spectators kids riding their BMX in a mad dash around the course as a breather type get the home town involved sort of thing. If it were Mickey T. or some local cable program I don't know. But I seem to have a clear image of it. And there is one demographic that is the target,.........KIDS............5 years old or 55 years old KIDS and being one is where it's at.
"Why don't you grow up"? How should I know, show me a 50 year old who has no interest in ..well anyway I feel that this SST as much as it is and is not going to be, a few curbside NAZICAR drivers would not hurt and while you are at it put the whole thing on the train tracks and bring it East...........East VS West.........Traveling the country.........Here come the nurses I'm getting off track..............ooooo the green ones!.
