Do you remember during Dakar Robby making it known that the Hummer team was for sale? Well, I talked to a couple buddies that work in Dubai who know people with Yazeed Racing. Yazeed Al-Rahji, a experienced rally driver and team owner, has purchased a hummer. They have announced on their Facebook about running the Hail Rally in the new Hummer.

Robby was checking out the other cars pretty intensely at this last Dakar. See what the other guys are doing, take what you already know from the Hummer builds, and with a little bit of imagineering Robby will build himself a stout bolt of lightning for next year. Can't wait!

yep, Robby powered

Yes it will be interesting to see what the next Rally will bring in terms of not the vehicle itself and all the tech, engine and other such aspects but rather the "skin". With the traxxis relationship what it is and Robby making the reference to the trucks at the end of this years Dakar, it could prove to be the commercial break through that his efforts so deserve in this country to finally bring some eyeballs on what's going on. In short letting the kids big and small know a giant version.... perhaps more than one of the traxxis vehicle like the one that will be running the SST will be running DAKAR. If I were wearing a suit and getting paid for things I already do on a daily basis with kicking lifes ass via "the idea" I would be hard at work on getting the Robby Gordon DAKAR chassis with a TRAXXIS skin on it, to be put on the shelves with the TRAXXIS "DAKAR RALLY" edition ...................in time for the Christmas rush.
As usual all favors are free.

Nasser must be trying to find ways to get into Yazeed garage to take some notes and make bugly better.

My take, this is a good, no great thing. RGM basically rebuilt the hummers every year anyway. Now he sells the Hummer cashes the check and it pays to build a new chassis. With all the fab guys well oiled after 22+ SSTs knocking out a new car would be easy. Starting with a blank sheet fixing some core design issues that the V2s had and ending up with money in the pocket. In my opinion (no facts here) I would not be suprised to see a car that looks awful close to the V2s. (V1 = 2005,6,7,8 V2=2009,10,11,12,13 I may be off on the year they switched front end designs) Thie biggest downside is RGM tech could come back and compete against RG at a future Dakar. (Think of the TTs with RG lineage that race him in Baja)

This is crazy! To think that Robby might without a hummer is weird. Everybody loves those things, but I just know Robby is coming up with something new and improved and I can't wait to see it.

Who says it won't be a "Hummer?"

+1 the V3 hummer is what I think will be the new car. Will take side by side pictures to tell them apart. I would imagine modular chassis components possibly a shorter wheelbase and a bit narrower. In fact this could be a spy photo of the new truck:

a Traxxas Slash Hummer

It's been mentioned in this thread and Kevin Wilson dropped it toward the end of the Daker. What about the SST platform? It looks smaller than the Hummer has equal suspinsion travel is light weight yet durable as hell and has the potintial for equal HP. They appear to have some modular sections like 7gas mentioned and I realize a front engined live rear axle setup is a big departure from the current car but the Toyota Hielux seemed to do pretty well. It just seems to me that the SST would be better in the twisty turnys than the Hummer especialy after the drifting exhibit Robby gave. The SST should be pretty fast in the tight stuff and with RGM setting it up should handle the desert and dunes well.............Just my 2 cents.

I like the idea. Better power to weight specially with the restrictor limitations. Which means faster, I hope it is duralble. Took a while to take all the gremlins out of the hummer.
