Testing at Pikes Peak: Kenny Wallace and the #28 U.S. Border Patrol/Jay Robinson Racing Chevy tested at Pikes Peak International Raceway on Monday, #7-Robby Gordon and team are scheduled to test at the track on Wednesday Nov. 5 in preparation for Phoenix. No word if testing is open to the public.(PPIR)(11-4-2008)

*track has been in the news recently, not recalling exact info, sold? got a series contract?*

adding:
Pikes Peak to reopen: PPIR has a new owner with plans to resume racing at the 1.5 mile track [actually 1 mile oval, and 1.3 mile road course]. Arden Weatherford, the new owner is saying little. But the group planning to hold a race at the facility Labor Day weekend says the grounds and ashpalt are in good shape. Members of the National Auto Sport Association [NASA] plan to hold road races and offer high performance driving during the three day weekend. Their regional director walked the grounds on Monday. Dave Balingit says the new owner has a great deal of experience as a racing promoter and track manager and believes the new venture will be successful. PPIR closed in November of 2005.(koaa.com)(7-25-2008)

That is cool Mike.
Okay are you sure this pic was yesterday? Why does Robby's shirt say Toyota? He hasn't driven a Toyota since like 99 in CART. Just asking .....
Toyo tires.
I really hope you are kidding.

It literally says Exhibitor '08 on the guys badge.

Some people...

Again, aside from the fact it clearly says Toyo Tires on the shirt.
Man, the "insiders" talking out of their ass is probably the best part of this place!
That would be cool if he was testing at Irwindale Speedway...I just wonder how much usable info they can get from a 1/2-mile oval for an upcoming race on a 1-mile oval with a dog-leg in the back. If he really is testing at Irwindale, I guess he could use the turns for information since Irwindale has variable degree banking (6-9-12 degrees) and he could run in the middle of 1 and 2 and high in 3 and 4 since Phoenix has 9 degrees in 1 and 2 and 11 degrees in 3 and 4.
I asked the same thing, he said they looked at maybe running the bullring here in vegas but they thought Irwindale would be a closer match. I questioned the banking and he said almost the same thing you did about the variable banking and where he would run on the track to simulate phoenix. He was very talkative actually. He brought up Ronn Bailey even.
It really wouldn't surprise me then if he did test at Irwindale. I know Brendan Gaughan has come out here to test when he was running the #62 Orleans Dodge and he mentioned Irwindale having some similarities to certain tracks. Hell, when he won the Texas truck race like 3 years in a row, he mentioned something about it being similar in certain aspects to Irwindale. Maybe he needs to come back out here to test with the #10 team and bring the #14 team with him...lol.
OK. I'll bite - what did he say about Ronn?
About Ronn He just basically said that he was very slow when they went testing.
In the pic above it shows me wearing someone elses badge as well notice it doesnt match my name. It was another long day at SEMA today. Heres a little eye candy from yesterday.
