Just a quick rant. I am sick of the British press banging on about how well Tony Stewart is doing with his start up team and being the only owner / driver having success and leading the points standings since ' 92 when Kulwicky led them.
Am I correct in thinking that his team is just another Hendrick car with Hendrick motors and chassis set ups ?
Robby is the only independent driver in the same light as Alan Kulwicky.as far as Im concerned. He's built his own shop and his own cars and stuff.
I feel I need to write into the magazine and tell them how it is but I don't want to say anything thats wrong. could sombody clarify this for me?

You are correct. Tony is a 50% owner with Haas and leases Hendrick equipment. Michael Waltrip is a owner with a silent corporate partner (don't remember who they are.. they're just that silent LOL). Robby is the only true owner/driver in cup today that's in the top 35 in points.
I hate when people call Tony's team a "start up team" or it being in its "first year". The HassCNC team had been around for, what, 6 years as a full time team or something like that (I am too lazy to look it up right now) before Tony came along. Stewart-Hass is still the same as the HassCNC team that ran those first 6 years or so (with the exception of changes in team members at the shop and on pit road).
Haas is a 7 yr old team.......Hendrick cars & motors...still a big suprise though..

You have to give credit to the fact that Tony and Ryan have brought that teams level of peformance up, but yeah even Fox lumped Stewarts team in with Hendrick when they were grading teams performance because the fact that everything they are running is HMS equipment. I dont know what MWR uses for chasis's but Robby has even built his own chasis and has had sucess with it. The press are always gonna write about who they consider big name drivers and this is where we as Robby fans just have to suck it up and know what an EXTREMLEY TALENTED DRIVER we have! Just my opinion
Extremly taleted driver, and quite an extremly good busnessman!
Lets not forget that besides chasis and engines from Hendrick, Tony is also getting notes from the Hendricks teams.
Those notes are extremely valuable for Tony and Ryan.
It's not just the British press Zippy, most of the American press gives Tony credit for the same thing. It's BS, but that's the way it it.
I can't stand Stewart, I'd like to give him a punch in the mouth. I'll leave it at that.
Oh I like Tony and Ryan, and I'm glad they are doing well with the Stewart-Haas team. But Robby is the only viable independent driver/owner team, and I hate it when S-H gets credit for more than they've actually earned.
Yes, definately not just the British press is inundating the public with the Tony/owner/driver hype.

For anyone that really appreciates the true independant nature of Robby's team, what he has done, and what he strives to do, it is annoying and biased.

Being given half an existing team in exchange for driving, and BUYING Hendrick equipment and technical support, is not being an independant anything! Tony does not even 'own' his own car, Margaret Haas does. He 'owns' Ryan's car.
And I like how the media makes it sound like he took such a risk even though he was GIVEN 50% ownership of the team. He made no financial investment whatsoever!
still, at the end of the day stewart has outperformed rgm, rgm couyld have gone the same route but would have never had the results of the 14/39....truth hurts
