I've never tried SPEED, because I've never seen it on a shelf here in Indianapolis (I know--let me have it!)... Well, I just called the Menard's store in Avon, IN (just west of Indy, the store closest to Speedway) and they do have it... but there's a catch and I want to know if you guys can help fill me in on this...

I talket to a nice person, Ashley, in Groceries and she told me they had all three flavors (about 60 4-packs of Unleaded, 20 of Octane, and 50 of Fuel, IIRC) and that they were on sale for $4.49 (!) a four-pack. She told me they were "red-tagged" which she believed meant they weren't getting any more in once this sold out. I askedd her to check on that so when I come in to get some maybe she could give me more info.

Three things:

1. If you're in central Indiana and you're a RG fan, PLEASE call your Menard's and GNC and ask about SPEED Energy--then go buy some! We can't call ourselves fans and let big distribution opportunities like these slip away.

2. Does anybody know anything more specific about all this? I basically told Ashley "don't let that happen!" so let's help her out ;)

3. Brickyard weekend is nearly upon us... Any news about new distributors, handouts to generate "buzz", etc?

If this is old news, forgive me, and links will do. This all happened in the last 10 minutes and I wanted to put the word out before I go digging for more info.

They only had singles last time I was at the Menards in Massillon, Oh.
I buy speed at the Greenwood Menards on 135. They have had it from the beginning!

Todd In Greenwood ( 15 min. south of indy)
I have got mine at Fargo and Minot ND at the menards in the 4 packs for 5.99. they are the old cans still up here as of 2 weeks ago. they taste amazing though I don't give a shit about the can. the time will come for the new can to come and when we get them up here in our igloos in Canuck City.
we had a end cap of speed 4 pack at the washington IL menards store now just have single can's havent asked anyone one when they are getting more might just be waiting to sell all the old S cans 1st then get the new cans

Brickyard weekend would be big if robby could get Kroger on the car and indy is the home of kroger's and i bet u all these car's have kroger's on there car somewhere 83,33,47,4,18 they all sell there stuff there i dont think kroger pays them to do it it there main Sponsor saying thanks to kroger so they get better shelf space
When I went to the Indy 500 I stopped at Menards in Mansfield OH. They said they were out (there were some singles in the front cooler). We spotted some 4 packs on a closed checkout line that they apparently were using to stock the front coolers. I snagged everything they had left (It was exactly what I was looking to buy) plus a single from the cooler for the road. They were the old logo.
Todd, the price she quoted you is for the not so desirible S cans. I'm positive of this, I just got another 48 yesterday here in Joliet, Il...same price. As for restocking, Menards HQ orders for the stores. I was told a few weeks back, new stock should be coming in shortly
The Manager at the store of 96th and I-69 told me all Merchandising and ordering is done from corporate.....the stores just do what they are told..........On the Speed website I would think if they were selling it for a limited time it would say that........The other thing to keep in mind is that Menards is probably taking delivery of SPEED at 1 Wharehouse location and then distributing to the stores....so if one store sells out yet they still have 70% of what they bought scattered throughout the rest of the stores the stores that are out will have to wait until they burn through inventory to get a new shipment.....I would guess that after a year or so Menards will have a better handle on what stores need more and what stores need less..My store is out so in the meantime I've just been drinking Monster instead........just kidding :)
Menards re-orders all the time!
Then they need to spread the wealth...not makin it out my way yet. Not that I'm complaining about the current price. After all...you save BIG money, YOU SAVE BIG MONEY....when you shop MENARDS! yes, I jus sang that...
We get all of our speed at Menards for our roller skating rink here in So. Il. Never got a phone call back from R,G.M. ? Never have got the new cans as of two weeks ago. Kids love it !! We call to see if they have it in and then buy all they have. Its cool to go in and say, yes I want it all . lol.
That really surprises me. It sucks that the Menard's store that closed by the track isn't there, when I'm out there working I'd have to drive to a GNC downtown or just go to the Menard's on 135 like Todd said in Greenwood. Luckily since I live in Greenwood, I can go to there or the mall and get it whenever. When I'm at school in Muncie, the Menard's has SPEED there and I was completely surprised and I bought a lot there last year since there isn't any on campus (needs to happen!!!!).
I wouldn't worry too much - sounds like Menards only have the old cans at the moment, and perhaps there's a new SKU for the new cans, which is why the old cans are red tagged (there'll be no more old-logo cans ordered by menards)..
